Because that wasn't how it started. It started because JC was wearing the gear of a rival club.

JC moved the conversation there after it. Simpson was never going to discuss the goings on of what happened in Seville - the media never suggested he was one of the players to talk to the owners in any case - either way, that story line has no business being played out in public over twitter. What started has some harmless banter evolved into a little bit more.

Personally I don't think either came out of it looking particularly good but maybe if JC hadn't taken it so personally it could have remained entertaining at least.
