Absolutely have to treat each case on it's merits. Whats goid fir one player won't neccessarily be good for another.

But you see so many cases of kids hanging around a first team squad without any prospect of game time for too long.

You can stop developing at a certain point playing kids football. RLC needed senior football a couple of years ago.

Haha I'm not sure anyone ever thought Ryan Mason was going to be great tbh. I liked him and thought he was a decent squad player, but knew he had limitations.

Winks is different gravy though. He just has it. I would be genuinely staggered if he only ended up playing out his career at teams in the lower reaches of the Premier League (unless, of course, something goes disastrously wrong at our club) ala Mason, Huddlestone, Livermore, Carroll etc.

Kelechi should have went to Everton.

Kelechi definitely had to leave, he would have got barely any game time for us.

Leicester hasnt worked out yet, but it's early days.

It's funny, because I think he went to 4th choice from City, to 4th choice to Leicester (I would have both Okazaki and Slimani ahead of him at this point in time.)

The problem is that he's not really offering a point of differentiation from Vardy when it comes to the pair-up, which has unfortunately compared Kelechi to... sigh, Schlupp and Musa, which, if you were around for my, ahem, comments about Vardy. He has athleticism, but he's lacking Vardy's most underrated skill: football intelligence. I believe as Kelechi gets more experienced, this will come out more as he is more aware. But at this point, he offers no other advantages over Shinji nor Islam.

The good news is that Puel is likely to give him more chances, so hopefully that is the kicker he needs to develop.

If one of the Liverpool-friendly journalists such as James Pearce, Paul Joyce or Chris Bascombe took as blindly biased a view of football as Duncan Castles does towards Manchester United, we’d be frankly embarrassed.

Castles is an enormous Jose Mourinho fan and spends his days picking apart certain statistics and declaring the Portuguese the greatest of all time.

The United fan also writes detrimental articles about Liverpool, notably claiming in the summer that the Coutinho deal was done and dusted – when it really wasn’t.

He’s now suggesting that he has inside knowledge on Klopp’s future:

Firstly, Castles is wrong. Klopp has the full backing of FSG and he’s not going to be sacked barring something truly terrible happening.

So for the journalist to suggest his firing is inevitable and that Marco Silva is a possible replacement is nauseating.

Having seen plenty of United and Liverpool this term, we’re not worried by Mourinho’s side long-term. Yes, he can keep spending, but his footballing ethos is so depressing he’s going to lose the fans sooner rather than later.

I think with Puel we'll see Nacho get more game time. Should at least be starting ahead of Okazaki at the least.

he has been there a few months and picked up an injury as soon as he got there.

vardy is 30, okazaki 31, slimani 29, ulloa 31. kelechi will be worked in.

Looking at your team, a few upgrades here and there (Simpson) and it's a side that should challenge for top 7-10 easily in most seasons. The title will always mean you'll attract players clubs like West Ham and Newcastle can't too.

there is the style change to deal with too. i dont know if leicester will still play the counter attacking style under puel, but since coming to city he has trained exclusively in the possession style.

Manchester City are not being investigated over Financial Fair Play rules following a complaint by La Liga.

The European governing body UEFA clarified its position on Monday afternoon after a statement from the Spanish league led to reports an official probe was being conducted.

That statement was made after La Liga wrote to UEFA to make a formal complaint about City and Paris Saint-Germain.

UEFA did announce last week that PSG are being investigated but Press Association Sport understands that was not prompted by La Liga's complaint and City are certainly not being looked at.

A UEFA spokesperson said: "There is no investigation into Manchester City with regards to Financial Fair Play regulations. Any reports mentioning such an investigation are unsubstantiated."

The only other midfielder that I thought was possibly this good from us was an Algerian. Townsend, Livermore and Mason never looked like they'd be top 4 quality.
