Not going to lie, but even know I know cricket is one of our big sports, I'm actually glad the women's game is getting good numbers.

That said, I have to admit that its easier to catch a Women's BB game then it is an A-League game.

Did you see the TV ratings for the derby SM ?

Two women's cricket games absolutely killed the Sydney Derby. The A League's problem is far bigger than adding new teams. People don't even care to watch the 'big' derbies that currently exist.
That's all feeding into the original point that people are bored of the current league format.

Adding in a Wollongong doesn't fix that issue though. We're talking about one of the biggest fixtures in the A League calendar. Extra teams won't help make that fixture more popular. If that's the best figures a 'marquee' fixture gets, what hope is there when CCM or Wellington play anyone?

The figures are incredibly alarming.

It will if there aren't at least three iterations every season.

Also everyone knew wsw would get flogged so why bother.

Everyone knows Sydney will win this season again. Basically wrecks interest in the league ironically.

If it was Woolongong vs WSW I'd still watch the women's BBL over it

Just shows that the league has work to do with marketing and growing interest, not that extra teams is a bad thing.

Yeah marketing is the big one for me that they've completely ballsed up.

New sides can help that. But it's hard to polish a turd like NQF, Gold Coast United and Melbourne Heart for even the best marketing teams

Why is it a good thing women’s game is getting good numbers? Are you some kind of passive beta male or something. I mean give me one good reason why it’s a “good thing” unless you’re just trying to virtue signal

Don't even know where to start with this post...

Why was Heart a turd needing polishing? Having a second Melbourne team was never a bad idea, it was just marketed poorly and given no geographic home.

Lol what? Why would you want them to be getting bad numbers? Sexist?

Why would you want them to get good numbers? I’m not saying I want them to get bad numbers because women’s cricket doesn’t interest me in the slightest

JD don’t answer a question by asking a question. Just proves you can’t answer the question. Tell me you think women’s cricket becoming popular is a good thing for you personally

Because it's a great thing for the women that play the game. If they've got people wanting to attend/watch their games, that's awesome for them.

But I’m asking why is it awesome for you. What difference does it make to you? No one gives a shit about women’s cricket in reality. People love to virtue signal because it makes them feel better for some reason.

Simply that if you market a sport to one gender you'll get half the audience than if you market it to both genders. Growing women's football/cricket overall helps the sport.

Where have I said it makes any difference to me? My last post specifically said it was great for the women that were playing.

Not quite true that no one gives a shit about it. I know of several ladies that play and watch cricket. Then there's the 350k that tuned in to watch the game on the weekend.

Plenty of people want women's sport to do well because they enjoy the sport and the more people playing it and being involved in it the better. Stop being silly WR.

Don’t agree with that. Both sports have existed fine for generations. I don’t want women’s football or cricket rammed down my throat at every opportunity. If it is going to grow, then it will grow naturally. But it’s currently being force fed to us under the guise of “equality”

It was a turd the moment they made them MV-lite

The idea of a second side in Melb/Victoria wasn't a turd
