I'd be very uncomfortable twith the fact that the UAE government who is bankrolling City Football Group (at a fianancial loss of 850m over 10 years - going to take a long time to recoup that investment) decided that Sheikh Issa was not guilty of torture because "he was drugged and was the victim of blackmail".

Ahmed Mansoor being jailed for speaking out against the Abu Dhabi government is par for the course in that part of the world to. Human rights seem to be the same as what they were in the medieval western world and it is pretty clear that CFG and/or subsidirary clubs are being used as a mechanism to improve the image of Abu Dhabi.

I'd be outraged as a fan if it was me personally. Obviosuly you don't see it as an issue. I signed a petiition for the removal of Tibet Water as a sponsor for Liverpool FC for example.

We're not owned by the UAE government or the Abu Dhabi government as far as I'm aware.

Geez chef to think I got scowled down for voicing my dislike for Roman and the manner in which he acquired his wealth only once in full detail.
Some here are legitimately obsessed with the oil barons.

I agree, there does seem a fair bit of obsession/sour grapes over where a few teams wealth came from.

The main reason for concern is more that none of us can keep up. 52 points before Christmas and in the next 2 windows at some point will get Sanchez for free.
past vs present.

My views haven't changed btw, I'd still like to see Roman die a painful death but no need to prattle on about it. Everyone knows where I stand.

Utter bullshit.

They're both still owners so present v present.

The Mansours control the Abu Dhabi sovereign wealth fund. Without being funded by the Abu Dhabi govt Mansour wouldn't have been buying a football club as a vanity project.
Qatar Sports investments aren't technically the Qatari govt either but everyone knows where the money comes from.

I do find it ridiculous that it was Real who complained about the state support both City / PSG have used to buy success considering how many times they ripped off the Spanish govt.

And thats cool. Theres a fair few 'dodgy' owners out there and im sure they'll get the same the same amount of hatred from you no matter which club they owned.

Silent Stan is a dodgy owner but I hope he lives forever. I'll donate an organ to keep the bastard alive and in charge :D

Roman isn't involved in slavery or any of the companies he owns AFAIK. There are serious human rights issues in Russia but last time I checked he doesn't have any say over how the country is run.

Don't mind Roman much these days tbf.

Does your moral protest over Mr Mansour and like minded competitors/associates extend to when you're at the bowser filling up the car that gets you to work to pay for the things you love?

I think he's got a few quid of his own.

When the takeover happened he wrote a letter to supporters explaining it was a personal, long term investment.

In the absence of any evidence to the contrary I'll presume that is the truth just as I'm sure you'll presume otherwise.

Wouldn't have a clue who owns PSG. Not really bothered either.

PMSL. Where do you think Mansour got his money from ? His little piggy bank where he put away his savings? Incredibly naive to think it is his personal vanity project that just happens to have so many other companies owned by the Abu Dhabi sovereign wealth fund pumping money into it. He's so vested in his project that he has attended 1 game in 9 years.

Not sure where the vanity project thing is coming from other than being a cliche of choice for anyone that doesn't like them foreign owners. It's an investment, and it's looking like a pretty good one.

Given he made a £2bn profit on Barclays shares in a matter of months around the takeover I think it's fair to say he's not short of a quid.

I wasn't on the banking forum's at that time but I wonder if Lloyds TSB and Natwest customers pretended to be outraged as much as some football supporters.

I think we have three or four Abu Dhabi businesses on our books. Don't know if they are government owned or not. But we are a very popular team in the region, we do travel there regularly and our chairman and owner do have decent contacts in the region.
