I don’t like Man U’s spending either, but at least their money is by and large self-generated. The two Manc clubs spending spree’s have led us to this unhealthy situation we are at now. Something has got to be done because it’s becoming silly.

UEFA looking at FFP 2.0 which limits net spend each season to €100m per club.

The sooner United are back on top the better as they are self made, mostly down to the fact they nurtured talented players with a fantastic coach and barely needed to change a midfield for a decade that was as good a midfield has ever been and a marketing strategy that is second to absolutely no one.

Just to play devils advocate, since Russian and Arab oil money is terrible for football. Remove that, would you guys prefer if United (the self-made club that has always spent their own money), had at least a couple more league titles right now which is what they’d have without Chelsea and City having sugar-daddies and winning their own league titles? Please don’t lump United’s spending with the likes of Chelsea and City.

What utter rubbish. One of the most ill-informed posts I’ve ever read on here. United were top because they had SAF but even Blackburn were able to take the title off them when they came into money (small money in comparison to what you and Chelsea have had mi d you). Liverpool won big in the 80’s because they had the best continuity. No team really out-spent any other back then and competition was the better for it. Also, before the European ban English clubs ruled in Europe so your point about oil money improving clubs is also wrong.

That is true of course. Healthy competition is always a good thing, just saying it’s different when you’re run like a business.

What would be great for the league (all leagues in fact) was if a proper FFP was brought in and adhered too. If you are a big club that generates a lot of cash, then that’s fair enough. If you are bankrolled by people who literally have more money than they know what to do with then that’s not ok. Ruins the competition - and I don’t want my club to become one. No satisfaction seeing your club win in those circumstances

Spurs have done everything right: if they cannot succeed, who can?

Simple answer, they blew it in 2015-16 by having shit attacking and midfield depth and relied on D graders like Chadli and Mason far too often.

Lol why are they doing this? I was celebrating all Morata's goals with them. Then I just made some innocent references to Austerity and they went on the attack. I think its a noble strategy to try to live within your means and target mid table signings.
