Cloke rag dolling Lake. It as if he was throwing a doll to the ground. Fantastic display of raw strength and aggression.

Being in a room of Hawks supporters who were squealing like pigs when that happened ...

... Ditto Cloke's 'Don't argue' and goal from the pocket ...

... Priceless :D

Its funny we were only in front for something like 11 mins for the whole game, but i feel we had more control of the game and our skills just let us down. While thats not good just think we out played the best side for most of the night and if not for a bit of luck in front of the big sticks we would be celebrating this morning. It just shows there is so much to work with here and if done right we will be contending for a flag.

Take away White's goal kicking i thought he played ok as a 3rd forward/2nd ruck. He roamed around the ground got a bit of the ball and wasn't bogged down in the forward 50. I think this is where we could develop a real strength. Both White and Cloke can get on their bikes and run around and take guys like Lake and Gibson away from the comfort of the defensive 50 where they can get a chop out from fellow defenders.

As mentioned in a earlier post the way we are playing is making us an attractive place to come. But i don't think we should have Dangerfield at the top of our list. We need a second forward and we should make a play for a Sam Reid or even the guy from the Suns with the beard (his name escapes me at the min).Doesn't have to be these two but just someone who could take advantage of having Cloke take the best defender plus the 3rd man in he always gets. Darcy Moore can be this guy but we need someone now while Cloke is still at the level he is at. Gee Could go on all day at the positives at our club it just never seem to end.

Go Pies.

For the past few years we have criticised the game plan under Buckley, the structures that he has set and the style of play he has implemented. We could not see these things coming together to create a successful team, or perhaps we couldn't see our team being able to adhere to these measures to fit the moulds required. Patience is no doubt a virtue that few of us possess.

In 2015, we have been able to turn up and see a pattern in the way we lead, setup from stoppages and move the ball around the ground. There is a clear and concise game style that fits with our plan and the players have been able to execute that for periods in every game this season. Consistency will come with experience, as will polish but until then we will have to accept that our list is in its infancy and requires time to develop.

More pleasing than any of that is the dramatic increase in our desire. We were seen as one-way running lazy footballers for years now. That is no longer the case. This team run for each other, they chase and tackle, they pressure and harass with intensity and determination that is infectious amongst a group of kids. They want to succeed, they want to improve and they want to win. It hasn't translated into 4 points the last two weeks and honourable losses are frustrating, but this group will get there if they maintain their willingness to work together while gaining the experience necessary to be a top team.

Our team has heart. They scrap and they claw and they force contests where in previous years we would have seen them trail off.

They fight and they fight hard. If that doesn't make you proud and fill you with hope then you are missing something very special that is being built at the Westpac Centre.
I think I love you Morgan

I left that game full of pride.
A corkthorn supporter on the train admitted we should've won.
I don't fear them anymore, reminds me of when we started getting close to Saints & Cats when they were the benchmarks.

Wasnt too much?

If you can't be proud of our club after the effort they have showed or the way in which they handled themselves last night you never will be.

Not at all.
Too many people, (supporters and non) kick us at every slight chance to.
We need more positivity and recognition of what is happening there.
I posted pre-season that I liked the vibe coming out of he club.
It's evident off the field with the media, VFL coverage and all that.
Now it's evident on the field.
Just need to win more than we lose of these close games!

Man. Crisp and Varcoe have exceeded all my expectations this year.

We were told that Crisp was an awful kick, but I've only seen him kick one obvious clanger all year!

Also looks like the move to Collingwood has really freshened Varcoe up and things have clicked for him. Hoping common sense prevails at the MRP this week.

We knew we would be riding a roller coaster of inconsistency. It's part and parcel of playing an inexperienced list.

I like the faith we showed to start DeGoey, Moore and Maynard. It will only build their confidence and develop them quicker.

I'm a broken record when it comes to Jordy, but he is showing more and more each week which is so exciting to see.

Add to that I'm off to Vic Park today to see our next batch of kids perform. The future is brighter than even I imagined at this early stage.

If Varcoe gets suspended I will lose my shit, he barely made contact.

I think the big positive is that the Hawks have walked all over us since 2012. Last night we should have beaten them senseless. We are well on our way.

The big positive for me is the never say die attitude.
We are no pushover and all teams we play will know it.
Down by a few goals at one point but fought back into it. That has happened in every game we've played, including the poor losses to crows and cats. We get back into games. Always a chance. Gat to see.

Clarkson said in his post match pressed last night, "the Pies are on the rise. What they've done over the past few years holds them in good stead and will make them a force over the next months and years" or words to that effect.

We are clearly on our path.

Ok, I've been harping on the point that we havnt beaten any one of note. But the last 2 weeks has shown me that we can! To lose because of inaccurate kicking is far more palatable than what we have received from the Hawks in the last few years.

We've been better than the best 2 sides in the last 2 weeks with only a few maturity issues costing us. So all good here.

The moves when hemmed in on the boundary that we have seen a bit of in recent weeks show that the coaching team are really practicing difficult and valuable team skills. They mostly come off too.
The field kicking is on the up, with far fewer clangers. Particularly noticed Adams late in the game look to a risky and likely to fail inboard option and reject it. He is learning.
Handball to clear a close contest is the next area to lift. Both Hawthorn and Fremantle beat us at this. Our players don't quite get the ball the extra couple of metres that opens things up, but they are getting better very quickly.
Moore did much better than I expected. I see his presence as the major reason Cloke was one out so often. And boy did Cloke show why all teams are desperate to ensure that he is never one out.
Maynard looked comfortable.
There are some negatives, but I won't mention them here.

CRISP.........love this kid!

Yeah, the Hawks supporter next to me also squealed for Lake to get a free? Lake? Of all people, come on...

...but we allowed quite a few uncontested so you could say that's an indication that we're improving...
Now you're talking! [emoji6]

I'm just pointing out the positives though, a la the OP.

hmmm.... I think you tricked me into posting something negative. I wish to withdraw my comment.
