Obviously you think the current group will go on as one of the best era,s in football history.
Recent history suggests an era is roughly 3 yrs.

I take it you are referring to the Bombers and the Lions? Neither of those sides rebuilt from the ground up like we did. We have a core playing group of 20-25 year olds. I'd expect our window of opportunity to stay open until Scarlett, King, Harley retire in 5+ years time. I don't think that is unrealistic.

i put this to you.both the Cats and the Saints are the next in line to port.
both your midfeild and the saints are pretty much on an even keel.what the saints have is a archillies in their defence and ruckan.with the recruitment of Ottens why not exploit that weakness?

Ottens would undoubtely help us exploit the weakness but he comes at a big price. I consider him a good ruckman but we already have a quality one in King and a promising understudy in Mark Blake who should get game time this coming season. As a forward, I'm not as convinced on Ottens ability. He would be much much better target than Kingsley, who as frustrating as he is kicked 45.45 odd for the year which accuracy aside isn't too bad, but Ottens has never proved himself as a forward consistently. Throw in his injury problems and IMO he is not worth two first round draft picks or our first pick and Tenace, Kelly, Bartel etc.

No, you can't actually trade the pick, you can just do deals to ensure a player goes into the PSD so that the club you dealt with (that has the first available pick) can get him.

The Veale deal was:
http://afl.com.au/default.asp?pg=news&spg=display&articleid=127484
Under the complex three-way deal the Bombers gained the promising Mark Alvey and pick No.6 in Saturday’s National AFL Draft from the Bulldogs while Hawthorn received experienced defender Danny Jacobs from Essendon.

But all the Bulldogs received in the deal was little-known Hawthorn youngster Lochlan Veale, who is yet to play a senior AFL match.

This led to suspicions that the Bulldogs had only agreed to such a seemingly lop-sided trade deal because it would also ensure they picked up star Hawk Jade Rawlings in the 16 December pre-season draft.

This is correct. My answer should have been yes, however .....
Sorry

he played pretty much as a permanent forward in 2001 and kicked about 45 goals from memory. he had a tendancy to be on fire early in the game and kick 3 or 4 but then seemed to fade out a bit after that. im sorry madtiger i know you have this fixation on brad staying but the reality is he is going.

ottens will end up at the club that comes to the party....

500k roos will pay bet on it....

he aint gonna be stupid a put 600k on his head its not worth his while...
lets get real here boys....

cats, roos both want him it will go down to the wire in who will come to the trade table with what the tiges are gonna be happy with...

it doesnt pay to be silly about these things just ask collingwoods dealing with port adelaide in years to come they might live to regret that decision...
