Under the rules he was available to geelong, wc or freo as i understood it

If you have something different feel free to actually show it rather than nibble round the edges waiting for someone to throw you a bone
Under the rules, exactly, the same rules you were complaining about. Please try and justify why Cousins should have been eligible for the WC under the father son rule when his had no connection to WC whatsoever.

All the interstate sooks are like the people who move into someone else's house then start complaining about everything
What a crap analogy, a better one would be you blokes were broke so opened up for boarders, but once we were there you denied us electricity and water.

Bullshit. If you hate the VFL so much why do you support a club that joined it. Could have followed the WAFL.

You've come into our house you are eating our food living in our bedrooms and complaining the house doesn't have enough bathrooms or parking spots

Victorian teams have won all bar 1 flag since 2006. In multiple years every team in preliminary finals in this time were Victorian.
Remove Geelong and make it Melbourne clubs - 6/10 in that time (60% of the flags, yet make up only 52% of the comp in that time - 9/16 for 4 years, 9/17 for 1 year and 9/18 for 5)

The game is slowly expanding into NSW and QLD (don't look at attendences merely, look at the work done at junior level - slow but gradual increase), Perth is getting a first-rate stadium (bigger and better than concrete Subi), Adelaide has a first-rate stadium (bigger, better and wins in the first rule of real estate - location, location, location - compared to Footy Park), the AFL has bought out Etihad relieving the knife in some small clubs, Geelong has expanded Kardinia even further and is on the cusp of getting their 11 H&A home games there, the Dogs have had success at the right time and are venturing into regional Victoria (about time country Victoria got some reward!), North are innovating with some new shit, Essendon have shown they can survive anything.

By most objective measures the AFL is doing well. Just need to hold firm in the northern states, particularly QLD, and not give up too soon. QLD is the area of concern, not Victoria.

Whilst probably a troll, if not, this is as stupid as Ron Barassi calling for an inquest into Victorian footy circa 2005-2006. Only won a decade of flags after that...
Junior development, junior participation has failed to result in crowds at the senior level in basketball or the A-League - as a measure where has it worked.

Yeah not entirely sure why some from interstate want number of Melbourne clubs reduced. Why exactly?

Theres also the hundred years of history and supporter angst. Do we really want to see another Fitzroy tragedy?
I am still recovering from the Bloods being exiled and know a few Roy fans who feel the same. However I think the national comp has proved its value. Take Hawthorn out, Melbourne based teams have been ordinary this century. The AFL could have (should have?) withdrawn the Don's license and moved it to Tas, but missed the opportunity.

It might be helpful to emphasise the national qualities of the game by moving AFL HQ out of Melbourne. It does not have to be there. Adelaide could be a viable option.

Yep, the Vic media was up in arms about the "death" of Victorian football when non-Victorian teams won every flag from 2001-2006, making it 10 out of 15 starting with West Coast's win in 1992. And it's been 9 out of 10 to Victorian teams since. Nothing to see here!
The other overlooked stat would be who played in the losing GFs.

It wasn't as if Victorian footy was invisible. They mostly made up the final 8 and participated in almost every GF.

01 - Ess
02 - Coll
03 - Coll

Then the 'horror' stretch:
04 - Bris
05 - Wc
06 - Syd
07 - Port (Vic premiership)

Then normality:
08 - Geel (all vic final)
09 - Saints (all vic final)
10 - Saints (all vic final)
11 - Coll (all vic final)
12 - Hawks

Oh oh more 'horror'
13 - Freo ( Vic premiership)
14 - Swans (Vic premiership)
15 - Wc (Vic premiership)
16 - Swans (Vic premiership)

Born in Brisbane, played for Cooperoo. Played twice for Queensland and once for the Allies in SOO.

Google is your friend.
And rejected by ither clubs because he was perceived as too small and hadn't proved himself in a serious comp. Norther states players were seriously discriminated against unless they packed their bags at a very young age and moved to a traditional state.

With only 2 Melbourne based clubs making the finals in Richmond and Essendon, (7th) (Geelong and the AFL don't consider themselves Melbourne based) is that cause for concern for the AFL and or welfare/sustainability of Melbourne based clubs?
No! 9 of the last 10 premiers were Victorian

I think the AFL would be really happy with who made the finals.

3 big Vic teams. A game at the MCG every week of the finals. The cats tigers will get 90k.

2 NSW teams. 2 finals games in Sydney. Possible finals derby.

2 SA teams. 3 finals in Adelaide. Will probably get 50k to each. Possible finals derby.

1 WA team.

Plus Dees, Dogs and Saints all alive to last round. Hawks second last and Pies 3rd last round.

Record breaking attendance. AFLW a smash. The game at the top level in Victoria is going great.

Over half the competition is from Victoria because it started in Victoria? Chas Brownlow was again Victorian? What do you propose we call it? The GF being played in other venues I actually agree with. Start by rotating it every other year between Melbourne, Sydney and Perth.
no point rotating the GF when those states do not have suitable stadiums.

You mean capacity the same size as MCG.

Would be amusing to see the excuses if the Perth stadium was larger.

Firstly the Perth stadium nor any other will be larger and secondly Melbourne is the capital city of the game and the proper location for the GF so no excuses needed just occasionally explanation of the way it is and will be.
