An absolutely fantastic film! It gets back to the basic, Jesus came and paid the price for us. Deeply moving and brilliantly produced!

You must see it, really impressive!
Yeah... I agree with most of that. This is my experience from watching it....

As we sat there waiting for it to start, a group of teens came in, laughing and joking about how they were 'going to see Jesus crucified'. By the time Jesus stepped on the snake, they were all transfixed. By half way through, they were all in tears.
When it ended, a few people dashed to the doors but the rest of the audience, 90% at least, sat in their seats. No one moved or talked for at least five, maybe ten minutes, watching the credits and taking in what they had seen. It is indeed a deeply impacting movie. Yes, the gore is perhaps overdone - but realistic to history as best i can tell, and i only noticed the gore upon my second time of seeing the movie (perhaps there were less tears in my eyes second time around  )

I didn't think much of it.

...Jesus came across as one-dimensional...
Isn't that the way he should be portrayed, being perfect and all?

Anyway, in the end its a deeply impacting film, and although its not 110% true to history and the Bible on which it was based, its still well worth watching.

Watch it and make up your own mind.

I don't understand how people are taking this seriously. What is this, the gospel according to Mel? I won't take his latest ego trip on board until he shows more signs of being a decent human being. The man is basicallally a Christian fundamentalist, with the apparent prejudices that brings, with the wherewithal to make a film. What's next? I eagerly await the Fred Nile version of the Gospel.
