TBH MEB_ I don't think the area is overly wheelchair friendly if you had to traverse mounts bay road footpaths. It's no doubt expensive at the adina but probably the best for accessing the convention centre. I think a better option would be staying a short distance and cabbing It for accessibility purposes but Perth has an awful reputation for people waiting for disability taxis.

As for the second part I wouldn't have a clue other than the zoo which is on the other side of the river
Thanks OTC I appreciate the advice. I'll let her know.

It's laughable that the grandfather and others on social media say it's been simmering for a while and yet she dismisses that. He also talked about funding projects for youth being taken away and the kids having nothing to do

In my workplace today there was very open discussion about how racist Kalgoorlie is and nothing is done to change that perception

Reasons to live in Kalgoorlie

1.I make 100k P/A and i like stuff
2.My parents combined make over 160k P/A and i have to live in this shit-hole
3.I'm uneducated, all my friends live here and i've got nothing to look forward to in life.

Nothing to do on the weekends apart from ride motorbikes, kick the footy or use your allowance you get from your parents to do speed and be a dickhead. "No racial tension" is the biggest ****ing lie i've heard in a while. Bored black teenagers in a country town full of racist whites will always lead to this shit. It always does, and always will. No matter where the **** it is. Keep 12 year olds off gear and looking forward to something in life and it wont happen.

My kids and I were saying - imagine if just one person had reached out to this kid and said "I hear you like motor cross - how about I take you out with my kids on a weekend so you can be a part of the group"

All it takes is working together and yet only a very few want to try. I actually shed a tear this morning when I saw that young boys picture and imagined how terrified he must of been - it breaks my heart

One of the first things a Kiwi girl I was working with at the smelter that had just flown over said was geez everyone seems very racist here.. Which I replied yes it's very unfortunate.

I think when people working hard constantly have their stuff broken into and stolen it doesn't help just breeding hate.

Adina would be perfect MEB_ . Metro bar is okay for food too.

Also +1 for the zoo. Can catch the ferry.

Media playing the race riot angle now...the crime itself has been forgotten.

It's at least better than places like Mt Isa, now that is a REAL shithole haha.

It reads that way doesn't it

This is a powder keg I fear. I'm not sure what Kalgoorlie is like but I suspect the issues with some indigenous youth aren't dissimilar to what they were like in Broome

Petty theft is an issue so I'd hazard a guess that the boy has stolen the scooter and the man has either chased, gone looking or randomly crossed paths with him and run him down deliberately (he's being charged with manslaughter so it's not considered an accident by the cops)

The report doesn't say but it's a fair assumption the 55 year old man was white

There will be a lot of people excusing the mans actions on the basis that youth crime is very frustrating and that not enough is done to prevent it and/or punish the perpetrators. Whilst I can understand him being upset it in no way justifies killing the boy by any stretch

Conversely the indigenous community will obviously be upset that a young boy has been killed by a white man and will be looking for justice/retribution hence the protests.

Level heads will be needed but stuffed if I'd want to be anywhere near that town right now
Petty theft is an issue in Port Hedland as well.

Am up here for work and was talking to a local. When ever he goes on holiday, he locks up his valuables in a safe. He doesn't expect the rest to be there when he gets home.

Unsupervised kids with nothing to do, low school attendance and no job prospects = trouble

All towns through the north have the problem and the deterrents are ineffective because the kids genuinely don't give a shit whether or not they get caught

I know of instances where kids have come in through a back door whilst people have been watching TV and stolen a wallet off the kitchen bench and run off

Basically what he said.

Almost word for word.
