People have to realise se that all the really cool places have already been covered extensively by these publications. They are struggling to find new places of interest. It's why Canberra was listed in the top cities to visit for next year. ******* Canberra.

6PR were just reporting on a list made by Lonely Planet, who by now have surely covered every single place and event on the globe. how long before they start with articles like "top 10 safest neighborhoods to score smack in Ecuador"

What do tourists do in Perth?

Kings Park, Freo, Rottnest, the Bell Tower - that's the places they went to when The Amazing Race had an episode in Perth.

Some cabbie ripped one of the teams off taking them from Kings Park to Freo, he must have taken them via Hillarys with how much he charged them.

What do people think of Drones being used at Perth beaches by lifeguards?

Drones to take to air over metropolitan beaches

https://www.perthnow.com.au/news/sh...o-air-over-metropolitan-beaches-ng-b88662879z

Overall I think it is a good idea if done properly.

A few problems they might have:
  • Windy days
  • Limited battery life
  • Birds
  • Potential costs of them being crashed
  • Noisy when close by
Good aspects:
  • Cheaper than a helicopter
  • Multiple locations
  • Can stay in one spot to watch
  • Less noticeable
  • Recording of incidents
The article says up to 400m transmission range which is paltry really for a big beach, it looks like they are using Phantom 4s which have a transmission range over 4000m. (Maybe a typo?or not a Phantom4)
