You can book some pretty ******* nice places in Bali for 200. compared to some pretty nice places in perth for 200
Bali is a holiday destination, Perth isn't. Perth is a city of 2m people and tourism is only a small part of why the city and hotel industry exist.

The biggest problem Perth faces attracting tourists (other than the fact it's expensive and isolated) is that there isn't a whole lot going on. It looks pretty and there are nice natural attractions but simply being in a hotel in Perth city isn't that much of an attraction.

So our young renting neighbours have recently acquired a drum kit to go with the electric guitar and loop pedal already in residence. I'm trying really hard not to be annoyed because I did exactly the same thing when I was a young renter and quite frankly there's something comforting about knowing that kids are still picking up instruments and having a crack. Listening to them brings back a few memories. They're not very good, can't keep time, trying to play over one another, drummer just beating the shit out of the kit and attempting fills he's got no chance of making. I distinctly remember going to rehearsal rooms as well though..

Shame it wasn't the Bunnings in Maddington that went up - the resultant damage would have caused untold millions of dollars worth of improvement to the suburb...
I like my dingy old store the way it is thankyou.

*don't actually live in Maddo though

You can get quite a few houses in places like Maddo and Medina for under $250k, on a proper block. It's hard to see how the market could go any more backwards at that end.

Maddington, Kenwick, Gosnells, Huntingdale, Thornlie, Kelmscott, Seville Grove. My own little backyard of cheap housing.

As it is the mrs and I will probably end up in one of these suburbs because that's all we can really buy into without sending us broke.

Places like Medina, Leda, Calista, Orelia, whatever else, they're just so far out the way unless you work in Kwinana or Rockingham area. I'd consider it if the trip to work wasn't 45 minutes.

I went to Hilman the other week. Do not recommend. **** living miles away from anything if there's no redeeming qualities offsetting the extra distance. The hills are nice for the bush, views etc. and you get space. All those places up Marmion Ave where newly arrived poms and saffers live have beaches. Then people go and move to Tapping and Banksia Grove. Yeah, nah.

I still reckon Queens Park will be decent one day. Only 10 or 11km from the city and connected by rail.

That's near my way and I'd definitely recommend it. People don't realise how close to the city it is, 15 mins at night, 20 mins in the day, less than half an hour even in peak hour. There's far more valuable suburbs where you spend twice that time on the freeway every workday.
