Plenty of times on East Parade. Then go between the cars looking to see if people are using their phones. I think it's a great thing because a lot of Perth drivers are complete weapons.
He did say that's what he was doing when I queried him about driving up the middle of the road. I've seen marked police bikes doing that and I agree it's a great thing (even though he decided to pull me over and I wasn't using my phone) but I've never seen unmarked bikes before. That's good to know if it's not uncommon seeing as he took my licence and made a note of my address. Would hate to think there's some ****ing weirdo vigilante out there who knows where I live.

I think it was on the news or on a website they showed a Perth driver watching Netflix on a device while trying to drive.

Amazing.

What's the etiquette with crossing at a crosswalk when it's still red and you've pressed the button. Was walking the dog on Saturday morning. Got to the crosswalk on Guildford Road and pressed the button. Cars went past so while it was clear crossed the road. Little man then went green just as I got to the other end and some angry prick who had to stop at the crosswalk gave me a volley of abuse. Not sure who is the wrong here.

would you have walked if a cop was standing next to you? or fear a jaywalking ticket?

I don't think you should have been abused, but I wish people would have a look both ways before pressing the button, rather than pressing the button as soon as you get to it. Oftentimes you'll find you can cross the road safely by just waiting a bit rather than having to inconvenience anyone.

There is a set of lights eastbound on Great Eastern Highway between Kooyong and Belmont Ave that will only turn red if someone hits the button. The amount of times I've been stopped after someone has pressed it and walked over before it goes green is infuriating.

Not so infuriating that I would level abuse at them, mind you.

In my defence the road was very busy when I pressed the button. The trouble is with this pedestrian walk is it takes a long time for it to turn red to when it finally did there was a break in the traffic where I could cross. 9 times out of 10 you have to wait for the little green man. If it's early morning I normally just go across without pressing the button if no cars.

The abusive dick head. You are a grown adult who can make the judgement call. Are turning cars going to stop to let you go first even though legally they have to? No, go when you can see its safe.

I stopped at a roundabout yesterday. A jogger who was crossing stopped at the median strip and theatrically gestured for me to go through. The only problem was that I'd stopped because there was a car to my right, which the jogger hadn't noticed because they were too busy getting increasingly pissy with me as I strained to see the traffic behind them. Gives me one last eyeball as she finally crosses in front of me, I point to the red car driving past that I'd stopped for and the best she can manage for an apology (?) is a slight wave of her hand in my direction, no attempt at eye contact.

The whole thing took about 5 seconds max. If you're going to get upset about having your afternoon jog interrupted that briefly, you probably shouldn't pick a route that crosses any streets. So many dickheads around.
