Anyone have a decent, not-a-rip-off mechanic in the inner north (Northbridge, Leederville, etc) they can recommend?

Subiaco Automotive Services in Hood St Subiaco - just near the train station, used to be Wembley before they moved the boundary to improve the property prices.

The developers burned his workshop down last year to try to force him to sell up and let them build more apartments, so he's downsized a bit but is quality worker and honest.

You are kidding right? I just had dinner at my mums place and she gave me the rundown of her roast experience at the madora bay tav.. Apparently they hand out the portions of meat n potato but the cheap-ass frozen veggies are terrible haha

I've Lived near the joint for 12 years and only walked in for first time last week to buy a travler ale.

I caught a glimpse of the décor out back and it was a truely horrific sight to behold.

The owner is like some character out of a movie.

There's an even worse one on Stock Rd..one mile tavern.

You wonder how they even trade.

I caught a glimpse of the décor out back and it was a truely horrific sight to behold.

The owner is like some character out of a movie.

There's an even worse one on Stock Rd..one mile tavern.

You wonder how they even trade.

Oh lol the Latitude 32 buffer zone etc and the Freeway extensions really killed that area. Its the only building left in those few blocks there.

The Forrest freeway is great for us locals. I can drive in the middle of the day with bugger all traffic down Mandurah rd.

One mile tavern? Isn't it called 10 mile well or something? Or ten mile tavern?

EDIT: lmao yeah, here it is.. When I was an apprentice my boss and I used to get roadies from here all the time. Never went in though, and I'd never eat anythin from a place like that

Yep. Have been there a few times but the menu isn't terribly extensive and I don't think it's changed in the last 5 years. George Street Quarters just down the road a bit is pretty good. Went there a couple of weeks ago. Tapas kind of menu with lots of yummy stuff on it and reasonable wine prices too.

Royal Thai is no longer. They sold up and the place is going to be turned into apartments (if they get approval).

Bummer. I wonder if they moved somewhere else or retired. Thinking back, the owner was probably retirement age last time I was there which was years ago.

I think that place has topless waitresses?

I went through the drive through to get a roadie and had to get out to pay and you could see into the bar. It's a rough looking place, there is zero chance that I would entertain the idea of consuming food there.

Haha yeah I'm pretty sure they have toppies some nights.. But as you said the place is rough as guts and I've never actually been in there for a meal or anything.

Anyone done the drive Perth to Exmouth trip? Have a 'friend' from the US coming next year and thinking of doing this, checking out Ningaloo Reef and Coral Bay mainly as she loves the ocean and all that. How much is it likely to cost per person? 1.5K? Thinking of a 9-10 day trip.

Would like to hire a 4x4 but thinking it'll cost a fortune.

Any other suggestions?

It's still there - front bar is pretty suss but they still do the meals out the back section. Went recently and was pretty average TBH
