People who say climate change doesn’t exist because there was record snowfall?! Jesus Christ.

I respect someone who doesn’t mind the odd conspiracy but global warming is a dumb one not to believe in.

Most conspiracies have some kind of sinister plot behind them.

Moon landing was faked so the US could get one up on the Soviets, 9/11 was an inside job to drum up fear so the US could invade the Middle East etc.

Climate science kind of does the opposite. What kind of plot encourages people to consume less fossil fuels and think about their environmental impact? The companies that stood to suffer the most from reductions in fossil fuel usage (i.e. fossil fuel sellers) are on board with it and transitioning their businesses away from fossil fuels gradually.

The 'argument' is that these scientists need something to keep their jobs so they exaggerate and falsify climate change. Of course, this is done by ignoring exactly what you said about those with the most at stake actively working towards non-fossil fuel sources.

Just moved to East vic park, just off shepperton road, Real close to somerset pool

Loving it, Just took the dog for a nice old walk down to the IGA in Vic park, which was a 30m round trip, Nice quiet back-street (street 2 over has some weirdo's rolling down from Oats street train station)

NBN, signed up to IINet at 8am, was connected by 9am, (NBN master race, how ****ing good is it?)

Rent for the place a little steep, but great suburb! Im kinda familiar with the area since playing basketball at the vic park rec center for about 10 years now and living in manning. But really enjoying it

Sister's husband bought some shithole in Vic Park around 2000. Did zero work to it and sold it for about 4 times its initial value around 3 years ago.

She of course now thinks they are financial geniuses.

I was with iinet, but found the service dropped off a fair bit when NBN was being rolled out and I was still on ADSL.

Moved to Skymesh(NBN - no contract) and have found them to be exceptional.

Does anyone use Somerset Pool? I remember doing a school swimming carnival there about 15 odd years ago and haven't thought about it since.

Vic Park is cool. Good selection of pubs, restaurants, Asian places, cafes etc. along Albany Hwy and not too up its own arse.

I did swimming lessons there in primary school, haven't been back since. Haven't even gone to any public pool in about 8 or 9 years.

Sounds like every person ever that gives advice to millennials about buying houses.

I used to work with a dude who thought he was king dick because he had his house paid off in his 30s. He bought a house in the early 2000s then worked on a couple of overseas projects tax free during the mid 2000s when any numpty could get work. By the time I was the age he bought his first house prices were 3-5x what they were and Kevin Rudd had removed the tax free loophole for working overseas so it was always good to hear about what I could've done if I was born 10 years earlier.

Thinking about I think it was more like a 5 times increase value, 150k to 750k. Spent nothing on it as well, got bulldozed when sold.

When I was around there recently we were talking about my cousins getting money from their dad to buy houses. She goes "She's a been school teacher for a few years now, should be able to buy her own house all on her own!" I'm like "Umm they are spoilt by him a fair bit but do you actually realise how much they cost now compared to people's wages? In Sydney?"

They worked and saved hard when young so they deserve it but don't pretend that a decent chunk of your wealth isn't all down to a lot of luck..

In 1997 I knocked back a three bedroom house in Mt hawthorn. They were asking $130k when fair value was $110k

Probably worth $800k plus these days

I think most people of our generation have these stories.

I could have bought a couple of properties in Embleton for next to nothing in the 90's and would be living large if I did.

Too busy having a good time to think of the future.

For anyone who bought an established house after about 2007 I don't recommend looking up the sales history on realestate.com.au.

I was looking at a place not long ago which ended up being about 10-15% above my price range. Seller managed to make about $150k on the purchase price in the last 5 years with minimal improvements surprised me but good luck to them, it's worth whatever someone is willing to pay. Then I saw the previous sale price from 2000 and died a little inside. Pretty sure my current place was a 5 figure sale in the 1990s.
