Thinking of buying a house and moving to Geraldton at the end of the year. Young fella starts school next year and ill be ****** if he is going to school in Wagga, this place is a junkies haven.

Just wondering if there are any on here from Geraldton and can give me some feedback plz?

That’s why I’m asking m’lord - it’s not the first place that springs to mind if you are looking to keep your kid out of trouble. Housing is stagnant and there’s a glut of houses that have been on the market for a long time and unemployment is high. It’s also just below Kalgoorlie on a par for redneck racists. Have I sold it well enough

Was gonna say...Gero isn't a place that's clean and wholesome. For starters Chris Mainwaring and Daniel Chick come from this region.

If I was to move to a regional WA town I'd go Albany or at a stretch Bunbury.

Tbonefreo I've never ever been there but Gero is an absolute shithole. Knew someone who went up there recently and remembered it fairly fondly from 15 years ago, but it's a hole. Lots of areas are pretty intimidating and this person who they stayed with lived in a good area... person I know says they're going down the shops and got a look. 'Don't go the shops after 7.'

Just hoardes of bored, directionless kids with no interests, no passion, no belief and so they wander around town all night. They aren't intimidating by you either. Very happy to smash your car in too.

I grew up in one of those towns and despite not being back there for a few years now, it's a furphy. It's a classic town in that there's a wide mix of socio-economics in the one area (plenty of doctors and lawyers and people living overlooking the beach, then shithole suburbs full of scumbags, then everyone in between – it's just more obvious in a smaller area and with less people). It really isn't full of meth though. Then again I really don't subscribe to the theory that Perth is either... there are just as many addicts and mentally ill in certain suburbs of Melbourne as there are Perth. I mean Frankston and Cabrammatta and Ipswich and all these other shitholes are riddled with the same issues you'd see in Girrawheen or some part of Mandurah.

I think everyone just loves saying 'ohh ice is ruining the joint.' It's not like those Louis Theroux's where he goes to hick towns of 300 people who have always been inbred and where literally everyone is on some sort of pipe. Drugs exist in society and some towns are worse than others but these mid sized country towns ain't a ****in meth hole.
