Like the City of Subiaco - relied on their glory days then ballsed it up by being too staid and conservative when it came time to modernise and are now being left behind - and due to inertia and word of mouth, may never catch up.
Young people (so not me) don't have a reason to go to Freo or Subi any more. There are also plenty of great places to eat, drink and socialise in Perth now outside the traditional entertainment precincts.
Like the footy club quite a few of my friends would rather head to Cockburn than Freo for a night out these days. Such is life.
Last Drop is just down the road but otherwise I agree. The Gate is just full of dipshits looking for fights these days. Maybe the friends are just wanting to go out for dinner in that area and that's it.Strange considering the only option is The Gate and it is not really a great option.
Rents are absolute balls and killed a lot of it. I don't blame the Council. A lot of empty space is being sat on because they collect more from insurance then they will brining in another tenant100% agree
Fremantle council has a loser outlook on life and then wonders why the town they govern has turned to sh*t

Vic Park
Boston Brewery, Balmoral, Palace Arcade (Do you like greasy arcade games? Well then!) the King of Perth venues the Dutch Trading Co,
Pirate Life also opening soon in Vic Park.
It's the hip place to be for food and drink.
Is it?
The one in the city has a Chinese Democracy vibe about it.
people bang on about Vic Park being really happening but I don't think I've heard a group of people say 'let's go Vic Park on Saturday arv?'
seems people kinda move there and enjoy having restaurants and pubs to go to when they fancy it on a Monday or Thursday but those same people don't really have a big one on a weekend there. not like you would in the city, Freo, or a pre-2014 Subi / pre-2017 Mount Lawley.
Yeah someone just posted about it in the Perth threadAnyone hearing about a perth lockdown?

Anyone hearing about a perth lockdown?
people rag on New South Wales for not calling it a 'lockdown' but... there are masks, venue restrictions, visitor allowances, and no crowds at the football. No lockdown
Masks mandatory from mid day for 3 days
