He should be right then, pretty sure that mining being a primary industry will fall under the essential umbrella.

He said that about FIFO. Unless you are essential for maintenance and the running of the mine sites, stay home.

FIFO still kept going during the worst of the pandemic and lockdowns.

I don't expect that to change even in light of the Tanami mine outbreak, everyone knows it's the economic engine room of WA and Australia at the moment. They might just pare back the workers to skeleton crews, that's all.

How do the vaccinated feel about being under the same restrictions?

well I’m only half vaccinated so I’m not sure if I’m willing to test it just yet

Not long ago having a great beer selection meant you had both Heineken and Becks on tap.

The craft beer scene has absolutely exploded in the past decade. It won't last forever, there are way too many competitors at the moment for how small the market is so it will eventually plateau, but for now I'm certainly enjoying the ride.

Me too but 80%of them all taste/smell the same -just depends how much you wanna pay I suppose😁

I hate being an 'essential' worker sometimes, I'd rather just be a potato at home for the week rather than go out and deal with this sh*t
Haha same, I've hardly had a day of leave since February last year when this started. Part of me would love to be stuck at home for a week like most of my mates are.

(Aware that I'm very lucky to have solid job security in a time like this though)

It's essential that that the essential workers get their rooms cleaned, laundry done and food laid out.
Will be business as usual, just allow a for a couple of hours of 'covid normal' procedures at the airport.

Sounds like FIFO is canned for tomorrow.

I was surprised after they shut borders this morning, we flew in from Brisbane to Perth on the 24th and didn’t get a text or any kind of message about requiring a test to be done/self quarantine until results.

Essential has a broad definition though

yeah sounds like my experience in February, had as little movement as possible during the 5 day lockdown then

I understand the logic that once exposure sites get too high, the ability to effectively trace becomes more difficult. However, it is perfectly acceptable to question why we haven’t developed a more robust contact tracing system to handle one new case a day. I’m in favour of locking down earlier rather than later but still feel you need more than one case a day to justify it. If tomorrow was two, then bring the hammer down.

I think if it was the original variant we'd be fine, but the delta variant is causing scares (rightly or wrongly) throughout the world. This combined with the WA government's natural predisposition to act early and act hard means this lockdown was always coming - just a matter of when, not if.
