Are they declaring victory? I haven't seen anything

Nope, but although zero is obviously the best number to see for daily COVID cases, we'd have to wait a few days to see if it's a genuine reflection of whether delta is existent in the community.

Really really getting pissed off with this Covid Bullshit 🤬
My 15 year old was on the bus going to CountryWeek on Sunday when they got turned around and had to come home . They have had school camps , Country week , Nationals basketball all cancelled last 2 years and probably won’t get to do any of this by the time they leave high school .
Then my oldest boy 19 was due to play the Landmark Colts Carnival next week which has also now been cancelled 😠
Not to mention you can’t go anywhere for a break because everywhere is packed or booked out !!!
First world problems I know but F*k me it’s enough to drive you round the bend .

I know the feeling. Our country week was cancelled one year due to a teachers strike (luckily that was yr 11 so we were able to go the next year). Pretty much the biggest event on the school calendar for a country kid.

Get the feeling if we report zero tomorrow, then the restrictions will be scaled back by Saturday.

I think tomorrow might be a bit early. I reckon it might be a last minute thing and we won't know until late Friday if the restrictions will be lifted. I do think masks will still be mandatory, though.

Perhaps, but there is public appetite for a scaling back. Things like masks still being mandatory, but socially distanced dine-in at restaurants for example returning. Don't think we're going to see nightclubs or casinos reopen for at least another week, though. It will be academic if we get another community case in any event.

I mean, they will irritate people but getting locked down for longer/being unable to cross state borders for longer (like NSW might be the next 4-6 weeks) will irritate people more.

Its a bit annoying having people unable to see more than 24hrs down the track in regards to what would/could happen if they let it run through and then choose to lockdown at 10 or 50 or 200 cases (whichever number you think is the trigger). Namely that if you decide to let it run, every other state is going to lock you out until you fix it, along with the various economic uncertainties as people wait and see what happens next.

Correct me if I am wrong but if we measure lockdown as "are the pubs open" (It isn't a very important issue, but the easiest to measure in regards to what I would consider "locked down or not") Perth has been locked down for (since the big one in April 2020).

5 days
3 days
4 days (or should be at this stage)

Which is 12 days total, which is less than NSW is expecting to have on this lockdown.

I'm still on the "short lockdown" train because of what it means for interstate and intrastate rural travel, even though I haven't really needed/used either of those things.
