Correction: I got sucked in by TV news report describing it as the wettest August on record. It wasn't.

After a record-breaking wet winter, dry weather is now on the way. Perth is currently experiencing its wettest August since 1955, when 284.5mm of rain fell. This August, 203.8mm has been recorded by 9am on August 28, meaning that it’s expected we’ll surpass the 1955 amount.

Long range forecast brings massive change to WA weather

It was such an interesting mix of businesses. Feel sorry for those whose livelihood is now gone and hopefully they have insurance

The police are now saying that the fire there was an accident and not deliberate.

Not that it makes much difference to the people that lost their businesses there.

Is it ever a good week to be in Morley?

There are worse places to live than Morley though, my sister used to live in Bayswater and the Morley Markets was a good place to go to get a cheap dinner.

It will be sorely missed by a lot of the locals there, hopefully they will be able to rebuild it.

Wouldn't live there again but Morley is fine, just an average Perth suburb.

I've only been to Morley Markets once. Definitely felt like a time capsule but it's part of the charm of the area. Not every retail precinct has to be Karrinyup or King St. Coventry Village isn't permanently busy because it's fancy.

Bunnings closed down, now Greater Union is closed, the markets burned down and the Galleria having already been crashed into is getting a reno. The whole area could probably do with a bit of an overall plan to spruce it up.

I remember the Galleria being a state of the art shopping centre when it was redeveloped back in the 90s, it was the place to go.

Now it's run down with a lot of the shops closed or closing and nowhere near as many people shopping there like the glory days.

Nah it's across the road from it
Morley Market was a stand-alone building sandwiched between Coventry and the Galleria

Looking at that map I think it was the Coventry Village that we used to go to get dinner rather than the Morley Markets.
