Perth is full of nice little areas that just happen to be miles away from anything. You leave the driveway of your brand new 4 bedroom house in a newly landscaped estate in Wellard then 5 minutes later you are on the freeway with a 40km commute ahead of you to get to the city.

Wellard at least has a train station with a pretty quick trip to the city. Not much use if you're a mechanic working out of Welshpool though.

Look I don't want to be that guy, I'd just stew on it if this was a party and I'd just met him, but I've gotta note the elephant: gaskin sticking up for shit suburbs makes me wonder what 'Aubin Grove,' wherever that is, must be like

Aubin Grove, Wellard, Atwell, Success, Bertram, Hammond Park etc. for all intents and purposes interchangeable IMO.

Like if you blindfolded me, drove me down the Freeway 25km or so then plonked me in the middle of one of them I wouldn't have a clue which one is which until I saw the nearest Freeway exit and could look on the map.

I do see the appeal, though. It's not for me and where I am in life at this point, but if you think Aubin Grove (or equivalent) is the shittest area in Perth you ought to check out not only the areas that are shitter but other cities.

Both myself and gaskin live in Aubin Grove and have bumped into each other a few times in Freo by coincidence. You are correct as Atwell, Harvest Lakes and Aubin Grove carry on from each other and look very similar as far as lay out. The demographic is similar and could be best described as mostly young families. Land isn't cheap but hey what is in Perth. The council maintains the parks and facilities really well. A real safe and friendly feel to it although like all suburbs it would have an element of issues however these issues I have never noticed. I get out and about with my family and have a heap of fun.



My past house I sold a number of years ago was in a green leafy suburb and I might go back to Kardinya again.

Would agree with this, not "shit" but just completely interchangeable, homogeneous, characterless warrens. The best thing about these new housing estates are the ludicrous street names though, "Vitellius Parade" and "Edulis Avenue" and "Camden Blvd" etc. So much wank.
