**** the Geelong Board, post your 20,000th here with your Western Australia brethren. :thumbsu:
:( too late
I'd say with the slow decrease in rainfall that the rain that is falling would be lower than in previous periods. I haven't looked at the exact stats but I can always go back and take a proper look.
Doesn't matter- I could look up the graphs for myself and not be so lazy. :(

Windy Harbour is getting hit hard by Northcliffe fire.

Boddington fire been upgraded because that has gotten away again.

Im guessing Northcliffe townsite survived?

Still in danger off been wiped off the map.

It burned 15km to Windy Harbour in only a few hours.

Pemberton & Manjimup could be under threat from the Northcliffe fire in the next 48 hours

There's a helluva lot of firewood out that way!!! We've got an elderly friend in Pemberton :(
Hope the darned wind turns the fire back on itself soon!
I read this morning that the fire had ripped through 26,000 hectares.

Thanks for the update, DREAM TEAM BUFF

Why don't these young men ever learn!!??

Five men are due to face court in Melbourne over a string of armed robberies.
Former AFL rookie Ben Sharp, 28, his 23-year-old brother Christopher Sharp and another man, Nathan Lack, have been charged with stealing almost $300,000 from a cash delivery van on December 1, 2014, while it moved money from a Sunbury McDonald's restaurant.

The trio, who police allege all use ice, were arrested on Tuesday.
Ben Sharp has also been charged with trafficking ice, as has 33-year-old Tarneit man Lack.

And this is frightening...
https://au.news.yahoo.com/thewest/latest/a/26193823/man-dies-in-lightning-strike/

Last night, I was driving home through South Lake - in the middle of the electrical storm (must've been about 5/5.30-ish) and I saw a young lady doing door-knocking on Elderberry Pde. As the thunder rolled, she looked up to the sky but then continued on with her journey, entering the next house with her clipboard under her arm. I'm silently thinking- "Go HOME!! GO HOME!!"

Further along that same street, an oldish bloke was walking on the footpath, wheeling his bike. I considered stopping to pick him up but realised I didn't have room in the car for his bike and just hoped that he didn't live far away. I felt guilty for the rest of the drive home. :(

Then I drove onto Berrigan Dr and, right next to the shops at the Jandakot Rd roundabout, I saw a little toddler wearing a shirt and nappy, walking behind his father, who was wheeling his (the father's) bike along the footpath. The rain was coming down in big heavy drops by this stage, and the lightning was flashing all around, though it was hard to tell how close it was as there seemed to be so many different storm centres. I wondered if the kid had just been collected from the Day Care centre further down the road. His Dad was on the phone- I was hoping he was going to stop at the shops for shelter but he didn't look the type. He looked more likely to be thinking about 'toughing it out'.

All this was in the space of about 2 minutes and the storm had been moving and shaking nearby for at least 20 minutes.

Maybe I should've handed out free umbrellas??

Working on a SMSB in a building in town and the insulators between the bus bars were so deteriorated , they gave out. You yourself being a Sparkie can imagined what happened next. This was before the days of SWMS and JSA's. You just went in and did the job. My mates silhouette is still on the switch room wall I reckon. The stuffed up thing about it is, the building manager was more concerned about the restoration of power than of our well being. campaigner.
I've seen one like that at Duncraig hospital as an apprentice, I guess made under old regs the busbars were extremely close and covered in badly cracked insulation, as an already nervous individual I felt uncomfortable enough just taking the cover off to have a look let alone actually working on it...

• There is a possible threat to lives and homes as a fire is approaching the area and conditions are changing.
• You need to leave or get ready to actively defend.
• There are two fires near the intersection of Mandogolup Road and Wattleup Road. They are burning towards the freeway
BUSHFIRE BEHAVIOUR:

• It is out of control and unpredictable.
• Burning embers are likely to be blown around your home.
WHAT TO DO:

Not as far away as I thought. Thanks, Kram.
The wind's fairly strong out here atm. I guess the helitacs are all down in the SW but I've seen two yellow planes flying back and forth.

Nothing wrong with being nervous. Normally means you're careful.

The planes have been flying back and forth for a few hours now. Smoke looked like it had died down a fair bit earlier and I thought they were getting it under control. The poor firefighters are a bit thin on the ground at the moment.

Edit: what does '3rd alarm' mean?

Edit: what does '3rd alarm' mean?

Taken from a DFES Forum
1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th alarm etc - generally the number of stations/brigades/units (assistance required). There are about a dozen different types of incident, each having their own needs. (eg a HAZMAT incident has different requirements to a bushfire in the city, a bushfire in the country has different needs to a confined space rescue.) How these requirements are met for a 2nd alarm, 3rd alarm etc is decided using a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP). The SOP has a series of tables which determine what assets are mobilised. The tables are not going to be published here.

DTB, do you know if that fire is in the same area as 2012? I'd have thought the fire load would've been lightened as a result of the first and thus a bit easier to get under control?

Same area as 2012 but seems to be making no differences
