lol- I don't think they're still doing sausages at that hour, though7am? Why wait, if it's 24 hours like Whitfords you could go there at 2am
You know what's funny, Kram? You like your shops to have moved out of the dark ages and be trading on Saturday afternoons, Sundays and public holidays, but you want to go back to the olden days where 'the man who owns the store, runs the store'I hate Bunnings, killed the small hardware shops where you could actually get decent service and advice. And a lot of the time they aren't even cheap, heck they can actually be expensive. It's the price we have paid for the convenience of having everything in one place I guess..
Unfortunately times have changed- yes, I used to use the smaller hardware stores in preference to the bigger stores like Bunnings until the were all swallowed up. I must say, though, that I've found the Bunnings staff to be mostly helpful and you can usually find someone to ask questions of, most of the time.
Speaking of the olden days- I was just telling my kids the other day about how we used to walk into Target and Kmart and have staff in every department ready to help us. They would often come up to us and ask us if they could help with anything- and it sometimes got a bit annoying, particularly if we'd just walked into the shop and were accosted within seconds.
Nowadays you can walk through almost the entire store and not find a staff member to help you. Chemists still have extra staff but most of the department stores now operate on minimum staff, due to an attempt at cost-cutting. And grocery stores used to always have someone packing next to each checkout, so the checkout staff didn't have to pack as well as process the items.
