And people say Perth is stuck in the past...

This is how we used to do bridges:

The view from this bridge is pretty spesh as the sub goes down

I worked on that thing in March/April, looked like it was close when I left. Seems like a ridiculous amount of time was spent fitting out the store.

What discipline/trade? I drove past it yesterday and it looked no different to a month or so ago. Lights are on so clearly the electrics are done and that's usually the last step or close to it.

Hahah I feel so stupid, when I saw the photo my first thought was "That's dumb, why didn't they just make it go straight across?"

Exactly my thoughts as well. Then I looked closer and realised I was looking at it wrong.

Apparently those good folks in Badelaide were whinging because our footbridge is bigger, sexier and substantially cheaper.

We'll also have a bigger and better stadium to go with our bigger and better bridge.

Ceiling Fixer/Plasterer depending on which side of the country you are. I did a fair whack of the external CFC board on that place.

Anyone hear Barnett on ABC Radio this morning defending his decision to axe financial counselling for places such as Anglicare? Geoff Hutchison then said "Maybe you need financial counselling" which got Barney all blustered. I thought it was quite witty and hilarious to be fair.

Guess you had to be there...yeah so anyway, this weather!

Geoff was getting texts saying that he was a labour supporter

Small blocks of land, close together with no backyard.

**** that.
Yep, if I'm gonna live in that I'd rather live in an apartment and actually be close to stuff / not have to drive everywhere.
Yeah can understand that. We were lucky to get in early in our area so we got a good sized block with a good backyard, the people around us built right up to the back fence which makes no sense to me at all. For me it's close to everything I need like work, sports and mates so it's perfect :D :thumbsu:

Which is also the reason why Perth stretches out so far these days.

Read somewhere Perth and its surrounding suburbs is bigger than London's

I was having dinner nearby the Krispy Kreme joint tonight. It actually used to be my local ANZ branch. Anyways it's weird they've got the advertising all lit up already yet the place is clearly at least weeks away from opening. You'd be pissed off if you were driving by and feeling like a donut only to pull in and find the place is still under construction.

Australia is the land of suburbs.
Just like Canada and the US.

Quite simply everyone wants to own a home. Everyone wants a home on its own block of land with both a front yard and backyard for leisure. With the population growth this city is inevitably experiencing you are obviously going to have a city spread out like this.

And with regulations put in to address the problems with sprawl then it's not surprising to see housing estates full of houses on smaller blocks with little backyard.

The culture needs to change but it's not going to happen.

To the credit of state governments much of this expansion was planned and expected 40 years ago, so I am not surprised to see housing estates in Butler, Baldivis and Yanchep unlike some.

Demand for homes on their own block of land is so high any lower-middle and lower income families are priced out of the market, which is why many of them are moving to far flung places like Butler, Haynes and Baldivis as opposed to decent suburbs much closer to the heart of the city.
