Unbelievable. However, I have to admit that I voted against it but it had nothing to do with fading curtains or cows.

I'd have voted against it because it was too hot for those of use that don't want to waste money by having the aircon all night when trying to sleep

At least you've got an aircon which is more than can be said for that imbecilic financial knobjockey we've got for a Premier, or has he really got one but just wanted us to think he was a tough prick.

He lives in Claremont. Doesn't need one.

I think the Golden Triangle + Freo were the main electorates that voted for DST.

I don't know why uni students are so worried about dls when they get up at lunch time most of the week anyway.

And it's uni holidays for most of the DLS period anyway

Half of them probably want to do it so they can be 'progressive' like Melbourne

Daylight savings in the summer is the stupidest shit i've never heard

Why not Daylight savings in the winter? So the sun doesn't set at freaking 6pm, And don't bitch that its too cold to go out and doing stuff, It rains for a month and hardly drops below 12, It rains for about 2-3 weeks in perth Winter so you can hardly moan about it being wet and windy and indoors time

Daylight savings in the summer? i don't think we need daylight till 9pm, However ild kill for another hour or two in the winter, Like the thing was freaking invented for

I can't be the only one, Surely?!

Wtf. How does dls change whether u want to sleep with air con or not

Well if you want to go to sleep earlier sometime it's hot as **** so you need the aircon to get to sleep. If you have the aircon on when you go to sleep it's on until you wake up and turn it off

Those summer nights when it's 33 degrees at 2am.....no air con= no sleep.

It's not like Perth is Broome or anything...
The houses are less suited to hot weather though. Double brick = oven at night as the bricks that have been warming up in the sun all day continue to radiate heat into the house well after the Suns gone down

Wrong.

Bricks are actually brilliant at negating extreme temps.

Like, I understand, yeah it sucks trying to sleep at 2am when it's still 25-30 degrees. But you live on the Western coast of WA. it's gonna happen like, for 2 weeks in the year, Blast the Air con and be done with it. maybe take the doona off and use a sheet

I feel like i should hashtag perth problems, but i would feel dirty doing so

What we get from late december all the way through to the end of march is basically a 100 day blast of never ending heat..day and night.

After about 10 years you get used to it.

Probably the second warmest weather in Australia in a Capital city.

Adelaide get some really sticky and Dirty days as well, Perth ain't Dubai.

In summer, thermal mass will absorb heat from within the room, keeping it cool. Of course, it will also absorb heat from the hot air outside – the external surface must therefore be insulated to prevent this. In the evening, this heat will be re-radiated to the cooler side of the wall – this may often be inside. (You may notice that in a brick house on a summer’s day, the internal temperature continues to rise even after the sun has gone down.)

In perth when you get those repeat hot days and warm nights, the bricks don't get a chance to cool and continue radiating heat into the house especially those houses that are poorly ventilated and have minimal eaves that don't shade the walls

Energy ratings require more shading in a warm climate for a brick house than they do for a framed house

What warm nights in perth?

Im well aware of heat and its effects.

Im not aware that there would be more than a few hot nights a year in Perth.

Id take double brick over any other material.

Edit: that article did not state any U factors?
