My local servo in safety bay has at least 2 per day ...every day..the friendly Indian console operator tells me.

I asked that very same question.

Because there's so many all over the city every day, the cops haven't got the resources to chase them all up.

So the ferals keep doing it..usually with stolen number plates but most don't even bother cause the know they're got a good chance of never been picked up for it.

Same with shoplifters. Mate of mine runs an IGA in rockingham and they don't even bother calling cops on a daily basis with ferals stealing.

They just confront them and try to get their goods back. It's all on the lower scale of priority for the police.

They don't care. But it's not their fault.

As far as drive-offs go, I believe it's a legal issue. The argument is something along the lines of the petrol station gives you permission to fill your car before you pay, therefore if you drive off without paying it is a civil dispute not a criminal one. Or something.

Yes that's true. It's like how detectives won't be involved in a theft crime if it's under $1000 worth of valued goods.

Petrol drive offs are just not on the radar of police in general.

Most are under $60 worth and not worth the effort unfortunately.
