At least it was in the better part just below Noranda :$

Definitely wouldn't want to live on the side west of Tonkin Hwy.
That's where I grew up. Lived just in behind Noranda shopping centre.

I would've thought West of Tonkin is the better part?

Really need Silent Alarm's input there.
Probably sitting in a cool as **** cafe, 'cause he discovered it, drinking his Sugar free, non fat ,vanilla soy, double shot, decaf, no foam, extra hot, peppermint white chocolate mocha with light whip and extra syrup ready to bore us with a novella on how naff and lame it is.

Never had the misfortune of meeting a complete ****head called Brian Keely? Would be mid 30s now.
Not that I can recall. Few years younger than me.

Didn't get along ?

Just a total nut job, seemed alright at the start until we found out he would want to fight everyone after a few beers :drunk: I reckon he actually had some un diagnosed psychological condition or something. He also at least was a sparky.

edit - apparently rumour was also he also 'held up' Noranda Red Rooster as a teenager

During my apprenticeship I had a lecturer whos name was Keely.

I wonder if it was his lad.

Those pineapple fritters go for a fortune on the blackmarket

I just assumed the bit east of Tonkin was Beechboro. Had no idea it was actually Morley.

Friend bought a place there recently, was also surprised it was still considered Morley. Assumed it was Kiara or Lockridge or some such.

At Balga Tech? His old man was definitely a teacher there, although I never met him going to CET instead.
Yep. Balga Tech.

Hard old campaigner but a good teacher.

Long time ago now but I think he claimed he made off with about $700. iirc the moron got caught because he bragged then dobbed in.

Back in the days before EFTPOS was prevalent, so wouldn't be surprised with that sort of take

Weighing into the Uber talk, it really smells like predatory pricing to me which isn't on. Calling is 'surge' doesn't mask that. Adventure World for example had a surge of visitors, they didnt raise the price that day, just had to say sorry were full.

Uber claims the surge pricing is to encourage more drivers to work to clear the demand. Makes sense as you probably cbf working NYE for normal fares but if its 4 times the normal rate then why wouldnt you? Its a win-win for customers too as it means they can actually get a ride

It's no different to hotels / air fares being raised at peak periods of the year like Christmas.

End of the day check the prices first, no one is forcing you to use the service.

The difference here being 'normal' cabs would have just been charging the weekend/sunday rate. Not some whopping 800% con on people too inebriated to understand.

I guess it is the price you pay for not having to line up in those taxi ranks and hanging out with other drunk revelers. :)

Is being drunk really an excuse though? You are still responsible for all your own actions, drunk or not. I've done stupid stuff when drunk I wouldn't do when sober, but end of the day you have to accept its your fault and no one else's.

The information was made available in advance to New Years, so it's not like it was suddenly sprung on people either.

So between them getting warned well in advance and going through 3 different ways to accept the terms, sorry but I don't have much sympathy for them.
