That's near me but we haven't heard anything. I'm guessing they are on the Jandakot side.
They're probably more Forrestdale, but on the edge of Forrestdale and Cockburn.

Good you haven't heard anything, I know of people in Seville Grove who have been evacuated as well. Good thing it did rain a little when the lightning decided to show itself.

Is it time WA worked on a better fire strategy? We are one of the fire capitals of the world and it wont be the last one we have.

Sure. What do you think should happen?
Mandatory house insurance for a start.
Maybe introduce major firebreaks between towns in rural areas to help containment.
Better aerial equipment if its available.
Safe houses for smaller towns.
Better monitoring of potential outbreaks during storms.

I dont know exactly and I'm no expert these are just randoms thoughts that were in my head. They may not even be possible

I made the mistake of reading comments on the west's Facebook page where they posted a video of the coward punch at Scarborough Beach.

It is confirmed a Kiwi threw the punch and the ensuing brawl was mostly kiwi / aussies, yet people are carrying on about Muslim and African gang violence.

"I'm not racist BUT..."

My brother-in-law's brother-in-law's father-in-law is one of the people missing from Yarloop.

By this morning, they'd stopped the fire 5kms north of Harvey and were able to build containment lines. In the past 12 hours, they have gone from playing defense to attacking the fire. There's no wind at all in Waroona, but maybe it's worse down in Harvey. They were expecting a lot of wind in the afternoon off the ocean. About 75% of the fire has been contained. Waroona got its power back last night at 7pm.

For city folk like me it's almost impossible to comprehend just how vicious and fast-spreading these fires are. Most of Yarloop getting burnt to the ground in just 7-10 minutes is hard to imagine, flames 40m+ high isn't easy to picture either. Just grateful that nobody has been killed...yet.

Why the **** would you do that at anytime of the year, let alone now with everything else that is happening. Cells should be reserved for them now.

Apparently an arsonist is lighting fires in Jarrahdale and possibly another on the Mortimer Road ramps off the Kwinana Freeway. I don't understand some people, why the **** would you do that?
**** me i am in wellard now and if the freeway is closed. I'll murder the ****ing arsonist

The Mortimer road one I read off a comment on the Jarrahdale fire post. Think if the freeway was closed there would be a bit of news on it so you should be alright. :thumbsu:

TWO MEN CONFIRMED DEAD

WA Police have confirmed two men have died in bushfires raging in the South West.

A spokeswoman issued this statement:

WA Police can confirm that what are believed to be human remains have been located as part of inquiries made to locate two missing men in the fire impacted area of Yarloop.

The first discovery was made inside a residence that was impacted by the fire.

No formal identification has been made, however given the circumstances we believe the remains to be those of a 77 year old man who was unaccounted for after the fire had passed Yarloop.

Entry to the house where the remains were located was recently gained by specialist personnel from the Department of Fire and Emergency Services, which resulted in the discovery being made.

Shortly after, the specialist personnel gained entry to another residence in Yarloop which resulted in the discovery of what are believed to be the remains of a 73 year old man who was also unaccounted for after the fire had passed Yarloop.

I think the ODI at the WACA should be cancelled. Such a waste of taxpayers money that should be spent on bushfire relief.
Well its not the Govt staging it, Freo's new training base though they could scrap the govt cash for that.

Jesus. That's awful. Sounds like the town was pretty much levelled?
It was. I have a few mates who are volunteer firefighters and they said the entire town was levelled in a matter of 5-6 minutes. All the history gone, school gone, town centre gone and nearly all the houses. Just destroyed. Yarloop will probably never be rebuilt, despite what some are saying.

I don't think so. The area this fire is burning has been standing as it is for 30+ years, and the evacuation plans and fire strategies for the area are all up to date. It's just the size and scale of the fire. Lane Poole, which is where the fire originated was burnt last year, so its just pure chance that the weather managed to take it away from where it had already burnt a year prior. If it had have kept its direction it wouldn't have left that area.

My family and I evacuated Harvey yesterday, waiting anxiously for news. I've had collectivly around 10 hours sleep since Wednesday. It's just horrible what's happening to my local community.

Yes, because the government pays for all international cricket matches. Idiot.

Sorry to hear this. All the best from up here in Waroona. Let me know if you need anything.
