Is Roebourne generally regarded as the worst town in WA?

You speak about shit towns to country folk and they say their bit, but mention Roebourne and their whole attitude changes.

Kiwirrkurra is surely the worst from everything I've seen and heard about the place although calling it a town is a stretch. Remote indigenous communities probably warrant an entirely new discussion

Also, you must live the most sheltered life imaginable if you consider places like Busso 'shitholes'. **** me.

Yeah whoever said that needs to go to Roebourne. Come back and tell us if you still think Busso is a shithole.

Roebourne is a shithole, but at least it's close the ocean and other towns.

Somewhere like Fitzroy Crossing or Halls Creek would be worse, and that's only counting towns that people have heard of.
I've been to Halls Creek a number of times to visit some government clients at the time. The place is pretty depressing and the stories you hear are heartbreaking. It's another world.

A vast majority of city folk would be shocked at the realisation of how narrow their view of Australia is if they visited and spent time in these towns.

In fairness to whomever said it, Busso is a shithole when compared with Dunsborough, Yalligyup, Eagle Bay, Margs etc.
I like Busselton. I personally see little distinction between it and the likes of Dunsborough other than the fact that it's bigger.

Spot on.

It's amazing how many people have solutions for towns like Halls Creek, Fitzroy Crossing etc. and the surrounding communities yet whose only exposure to Aboriginal people comes from watching football.

I've lived in country towns and cities and it's interesting hearing the differing opinions on "solving" the aboriginal "problem"

City folk who have never encountered an aboriginal person with their impractical "do it the white way" solutions and then the country person who trots out the "take them all back to the desert because you city folk have never ****ing lived with that shit"

Drugs are a massive problem in small towns nowadays, which causes other crimes. Drugs are a huge issue in Waroona, Harvey and Pinjarra from what I've seen or been told anecdotally. It's mainly pot and meth and as a result, there is a lot of property theft and stolen cars. Alcohol is a problem too, but not really in the pubs. It's the drinking at private houses and associated assaults or domestic violence.
On a date the other night she mentioned that as well, A lot of young people with plenty of time to burn on week nights. Busso def has it bubbling away on the surface

Geraldton has always had a reputation as the drug capital of WA - it dates right back to the 70's but I would say it's across the state now.

I do know that a lot of the old timers in Waroona placed the blame of the loss of the township directly on to the "alternatives" that have started living in the area in the last 10 years - it seems their "gardens" and lack of keeping their properties "fire safe" and more inclined to "privacy mode" contributed to the speed in which the fire consumed the town

I like Busso too but Dunsborough has a different feel to it. It's quite a bit smaller than Busso which feels more like a smaller Bunbury than larger Duns. Except Busso is nowhere near the hole that Bunbury is.

Most of those towns south of Busso (Duns, Yallingup, Margs, Augusta etc.) have a similar holiday feel about them. Fantastic places.

Most of the little SW towns have nothing to them. What is there in Yallingup? Caves House, a little shop, some accommodation...? Pointless comparing Busselton to Yallingup because Busselton has 20 times the population. That's like comparing Adelaide to Tokyo. Most SW towns and settlements only have a population of couple of hundred to a thousand.

My cousin works up there as a teacher, think they said something about that she has to drive a diesel now because of the petrol sniffing, her first car was covered with massive dents on the roof from a heap of kids jumping on top of it.

For anyone around Fremantle and in to good local bands 'Yardstock' is on in the Freo area tomorrow. Bands playing in different backyards for free and BYO but no dickheads. If you know people in the local scene you'll be able to pick up a flyer.

Also, did the Premier personally shit in the Swan River or was it someone else's turd they found at Elizabeth Quay.

Grandad came over as a homeless european who lived on the streets first couple of years speaking no english. and he calls when he got a job working at fitzroy crossing for 3 years running a halfway house for homeless aboriginal children who were homeless, truency problems and alcohol/drug issues as one of the most depressing areas he's ever been at.

We've really ****ed some regional development. Elizibeth Quay? we should of focused on building up port headland/geralton, albany ect.
