Now I don't believe true altruism exists, and I have no issue with personal benefit if there's other benefits – ala cross-promotion but helping out a cause almost everyone can get behind. However, you're totally delusional if you think it comes from their kind heartedness. It's all about getting their flogs on the screen, with some shocking actor from Sydney coming over to further their image, with Channel 7 dropping in references to every show they have, and for the big companies to get some great PR and come across as soulful.LOL self-serving. It's a ******* telethon which raises millions for a childrens hospital.
Which, considering the way BHP et al have displaced Aboriginal communities and would rip down every beach and national park if there was money in it, it's about as piss poor as McDonalds sponsoring kids soccer. It's all a nice excuse to offload the bad press they should and probably would otherwise get.
Apparently those houses are made out of plywood too. It's like that Simpsons episode where they fix Ned's house...
