Possibly but he's spot on about the wank surrounding "cafe culture", doubt SA is the one who coined that term. In a similar vein though but with an opposite position I really dig the idea of these "hidden bars" that I've heard are apparently popping up in the city/NB. Need a password to get in if you find it, I know it sounds exceptionally elitist and possibly financially unsound but my inner child can't help but liken it to a treasure hunt; need more unique and interesting activities for young adults in Perth.

Of course this is all based on an article I might have possibly read hungover as **** one morning so this could be imaginary, anyone heard anything like this?
I read the same article, sounds like only Arts students are allowed in.

Classic Belmont

So im playing some Rec Center basketball down there (Scrappy as hell league) and a few of the local lads have organised a team not great players but whatever, good to see guys playing the sport, Right outside where the double door exits are a couple of their mates have grabbed some chairs, brought down an esky and are smashing back jack daniels while cheering on the other team

Couldn't help but laugh

I wouldn't advise going anywhere near that store until the novelty wears off, or until they start selling their doughnuts in servos, delis etc.
I'm just glad that they've cracked into the WA market- no more freaking bags of doughnuts wasting space in the overhead lockers on the plane! Yippee!

There's a doughnut shop at Booragoon with a reasonable doughnut range- the only problem is that when I eat doughnuts nowadays, I always have an aftertaste that makes me feel like I've swallowed a bucket of lard!

When he saw that article, my son's comment was "Welcome to obesity, Perth!"

Here's a calorie counter for some KK doughnuts:

I'm thinking "Thank goodness I don't like cookies and cream". 400 calories!

Yeah its not like calorie infested businesses were uncommon in Perth before yesterday.

It means the only business prevalent over the Easter seaboard that is reluctant to enter the Perth market is Costco.

Aldi is,about to open half a dozen stores in the next two months. That's more significant, a cheaper option to Woolies and Coles for those who need the convenience of supermarkets.

The Aldi distribution centre has been built at Jandakot airport. Doesn't look like any activity yet, though.

KK is extremely overrated IMO. Just give me a pineapple doughnut from Puffin Fresh or a cream doughnut from a decent bakery.
Is that a REAL pineapple doughnut? As in pineapple syrup soaking into a solid doughnut that looks like one of those jam doughnuts??
I'm salivating in anticipation if it is!!!

My thoughts on Krispy Kreme opening in Perth and the ensuing circus belong in the 'Things you just don't understand' and 'Things that shit me' threads.

It's just novelty value because it's a big chain WA has never had before. It will wear off after Christmas and people will realise it's just another doughnut shop. And not actually that good.

Also the word 'donuts' can GTFO. They are doughnuts, they are made of dough.

I'm surprised they opened in whitfords and not somewhere more central. They cut out the south of the river market but I assume there will be plans to open one down there.

After the Garden City expansions?

They will be sold at the many 7 eleven shops that, will pop up over the next year further wearing off the novelty.

Having lived in Sydney where they are abundant you get bemused at the wow factor people get from them to a point.

7 eleven in Freo has them.
