Hopefully it clears up by morning, I'm getting on a plane and don't fancy flying in that :S

Tomorrow's forecast for Perth:

Partly cloudy. Medium (60%) chance of showers, most likely in the afternoon. The chance of a thunderstorm, with gusty winds, possible hail and heavy falls in the northwest in the afternoon and evening. Winds easterly 25 to 35 km/h tending northeasterly 25 to 40 km/h early in the morning then becoming light in the evening.

Family live in Geraldton and they said it was hideous - had hail and very heavy winds and lasted about 20 minutes. Now very still there, like nothing happened

When Nahan put privatisation on the table for Synergy/Verve (not even Western Power!) Barnett completely rejected it.

It's in play again and while western power might not have been in the mix, if privatisation occurs, then those companies will use whoever they like.

I ran into a fireman at Woolies today- was pleased that I was able to tell him that I thought they were doing a great job. Doesn't matter if he was an office worker, a fire fighter, a gopher or whatever- they're all under the pump atm.

I'm a DFES volunteer and have gone to a few big fires around perth so it's been busy since the 30th of December for our crew.

Hopefully you'll get some relief with the interstate people arriving soon.
I've got rellies in Vic and SA who are in the fire brigades there. That's probably why I feel like I do toward the arsonists who start so many fires. It's bad enough with all the lightning strikes around, without the firefighters having to cope with the results of thrill-seeking idiots!

To echo CouchPotato - it's this whacky weather!
I've been here about 20 years and cannot recall such a long stretch of lightning storms. If it continues according to the BOM forecast, it'll be over a week of lightning strikes from the metropolitan area through to the SW and inland.
The fact that we had 2 dry months - no rain at all- just sets us up for a big firestorm.
Thanks to people like you, we've managed to avoid such a situation so far.

My son flies out early tomorrow- he's up near Marble Bar. At least it's cooler now- Dec and Jan are the hottest months there.
