Vale late night trains.

Passenger numbers quoted seem very flimsy, but if the patronage really is low then it makes sense to cancel the services. I'd keep trains until 1am on Fri/Sat nights personally. That's around the time a lot of people go home as pubs tend to close at 12/1. Clubgoers (well who gives a **** about them anyway, clubbing eats dick) are generally out into the wee hours so it's not efficient to carry train services for them.

If these late trains are so costly why not just make people pay a fare? Would really not bother me swiping my Smartrider and spending $3 considering a taxi would be probably be $40.

I'm surprised at this. On the odd occasion I have caught one of them they seemed to have quite a few people on them.

Its pretty normal for trains to stop at midnight. Even the London subway does. People would need to pay a significant fare to make them worthwhile.

That will change in August but in saying that, at least there is the population to support it and is safe to travel on regardless of the time.
You certainly wouldn't catch me on a train in Perth after midnight

I really hope they build more parking at Garden city. You cant even get a spot on Saturday as it is.

The joys of living within walking distance

So they just keep adding more of the same freaking stores so they can get one up on each other??
I was at Carousel a couple of weeks ago- drove around a packed carpark, went off in disgust and shopped elsewhere. Would not go there if I had the choice- I'd hoped to spend an hour there while my daughter was at bowling but ended up spending my money elsewhere, then driving home for 10 minutes before turning around and going back to pick up. I also used to donate blood just next door to the shops but parking there even 5 years ago was a bloody nightmare.

Just went down to Garvey park in Ascot, for a bit of fishing, I was there a couple hours and got 12 bream but they were way to small...

Anyone know some good spots for river fishing?
We get some good size bream under the old wooden traffic bridge next to Bassendean Oval. Unweighted prawn on a wide gap and just plop it next to a pylon. Get Flatties there as well.

Yeah fantastic idea.

Most of the 2am Friday/Saturday night trains I have gone on over my many years of going out in this city, even on the Armadale line, have been packed.

Another $60 taxi ride back home tomorrow night.

They should do what they do in Sydney and have nightrider buses ride along the train routes from 2am to 5am, but this is Perth.

Serves you right for living in Joondalup.:)

To be fair a lot of people can't afford to live closer to the city.

Rent isn't as bad as Sydney yet, but mortgages are pretty damn expensive if you wan't to live in a nice suburb within 30km of the city.

I have no doubt the city needs to be denser, but are the new apartments going to be affordable both rent and mortgage rise for your average family.

Thanks for that... I'll check it out in the next few days, I'll owe you a beer if I get some decent fish.

There is a driveway down to the water on the same side of the street as the Caltex servo. They sell bait there but I would get it elsewhere. They charge a fortune. Good luck.

Ha, i got some bait at a servo near Garvey park and they charged me too much, won't be going there again.

Canning bridge can be ok too.
Fremantle has unlimited flathead
Have caught some rippers under the old traffic bridge in Freo. Nice yellowfin as well.

2am train is pretty full to. Dont think they've had the 4am for a while now.

Bring back the night rider on Canning Hwy/South St (and others?) I say, now that was always chockers and with a 5 dollar ride fee must have been at least somewhat profitable. Me not going out as frequently definitely coincided with its scrapping.
