Just wondering how UFO Tatsu gaskin and Milang_Panthers are all going out there in the smoky southern suburbs...
Hope you guys are all OK!

My house is in Harrisdale so pretty safe from any fires, played cricket at Piara Waters today was pretty thick smoke but not as bad as Thursday night.

Just moved back to Perth after 2 years away. Didn't know Wellard was a deadspot for mobile phone coverage, luckily I live on a hill and get get 2 bars inside my house. its quite amusing when i go for my evening run seeing countless people standing out on their driveways and in the street talking on their phone

The back of my house is a dead spot - no coverage at all. My kids used to go ape because they had to come up my end of the house

You can improve your mobile phone reception by getting a little device from your phone provider that you plug into your modem. Mine boosts my reception from 0-1 bar to 5 bars. Can't think what it's called.
There's a dead spot out my way, too- it pisses me off because I keep forgetting it and try to make a phone call as I exit my street. Can't call for a few kms.

I hadn't realised there was a charge- it says on that tech report that it's $5 per month. I got mine from my son, who just rang Optus and added all of our phones to the list of connections we wanted linked to it. He bought an iPhone 5, so had 4G and didn't need the home zone connection any more.
I guess if you ring to order one, make sure you can return it if you're not happy with it. I'd hate to be promoting this then hear that it didn't work for you and you're stuck with it.
It should be free- if Optus take our money for a plan but can't provide a reasonable service, the extras should be at their cost.

My ISP sold me a wifi extender- we have a long house- for $150. The kids said it worked (only for a while) but it didn't really as it still doesn't reach the back rooms. Might as well throw it on the scrap with the dozens of other things I've purchased to help fix the problem.
Should've got the place cabled like we wanted!!

It was smoky as anything yesterday afternoon. On my way to the train station around 4:30 I had the aircon on and windows up and the car still smelled like smoke.
