went to the giants today. It was great. Organised chaos with people watching the giants slowly walk past, then racing off to the next vantage point to take more photos. Was a great buzz about the city, and i cant remember any other event having so many people turn out and watch.

Couldnt give 2 stiff shits what others say about tax payers money. Its a drop in the ocean.

How much money would it be injecting into the CBD this weekend as well with people getting food, drinks etc.

Worth the investment IMO

I can't believe they haven't cleaned that up yet.

I think they got sick of cleaning it up

I love the place because it sells cake but it shits me because the cakes aren't that flash but there aren't any other places that do the same thing of an evening that I know of

Whatever your interest (or lack thereof) in the giants you can't argue that taxpayers money was wasted given the crowds that went to see them

Midlands gives me the creeps at night.

Train station seems to be the place for idiots

Once coming back from a night drinking in Northbridge on the morning train I fell asleep, thank **** a guard woke us up just before my stop at Meltham. Getting stranded at Midland station around 2.30am is about the last place you would want to be, especially on you own..

People say Northbridge is unsafe but Midland is worst.

At least Northbridge has heaps of cops on Fri & Sat nights

Really? How many million people would you estimate attended KS?

50 hundred million
Money well spent then. I heard a figure of 500K, which is actually not too bad, but highly dubious.

I never figured you'd turn Perth-centric. How did they finally turn you?

I moved here

I have no idea of the numbers that will see the puppets but from the news reports a lot of people have gone into the city to see them although I'll agree that 500k seems a stretch. But even if its 200k then the governments contribution of $3m is still pretty good value for money - they've spent a lot more in the past for worse results so viewed in isolation I think this has been money well spent.

If you want to frame the spending in a wider context of a history of money being spent in Perth and not in the regions then there is no doubt that problem still exists despite royalties for regions and theres any number of projects in Perth that illustrate that point well. What you should be taking from this is that money can be spent wisely on something that will succeed which only serves to highlight to wasteful spending that occurs elsewhere
