We had a fire pretty close today at work...near the cockburn area. Choppers and planes going everywhere

I cant just sit here and let you all bag out chicken treat:p. A half chicken and chips on a thursday....PRICELESS

Agree. Charcoal chicken joints are good, but until they have drive thru they are just wasting my valuable time. If I have to get out of my car, I may as well bbq one at home with better flavours.

Yeah- that was the one I was talking about earlier. Just out the back of the secondary school. I drove out at about 5pm and saw about 4 planes buzzing around, plus helicopters. It was amazing- wished I could've taken a photo.

As I was driving, I also noticed a second cloud of smoke to the east of Perth- that was apparently in Bassendean. Someone burning an effigy of Rolf Harris perhaps?

I remember quite vividly my grandmother preparing a chicken for dinner. I have never recovered from seeing a chicken first off running around without a head and then hanging from a clothesline.

It took me many years to realise that same chicken was on my plate later that night. Don't even get me started on pigs and sausage making :$
What meat do you eat now, CP? Or did you become a vegetarian later on?? :D

My dad used to kill chooks and I remember there being talk about them running around but I didn't take much notice as a kid. Have killed plenty of my own - only when I know they're really sick or after a fox has got to them first- but I just keep whacking till they don't move anymore.. just to make sure....

One funny thing that happened to me was that I heard a clucking noise from the neck of a headless chicken as I tossed it into a hole to bury it - that was really weird. It sounded like one of those noise-boxes that you shake up and down and a quack-quack noise comes out of holes at the end, though this was cluck cluck not quack quack, obviously... :p It made me think that the chicken noise must come from down in its chest or something.

I think your clucking noise after supposedly being bashed to death has just usurped any childhood trauma I ever experienced.
My tomahawk isn't very sharp. I know the first chop would've broken their necks (the fox had already broken two anyway- I was just finishing them off :() but I just want to be sure the chooks are dead. I hate killing them and only do it when they're really sick.
I'm probably scarred for life, too :(

Got my new licence today. Jeez the new design is ugly. The previous one was the most aesthetically pleasing.

What is the new design?

Mine renewed in September and is sort of a dull white/gold pattern with a blue strip on the top. Has it changed again?

Yeah that's it, with a big gold swan.

Not the greatest design job ever.

What are the rules regarding photos these days? Mine just keeps renewing each year. I swear I haven't physically been into the DoT and had my photo taken since about 2003, then I was 19. I'm 30 so I can usually go and buy a carton of beer without being asked for ID now, but if I am asked my ID just says I'm 30 and look about 14.:D

Had a bit of a brain fade and let my licence expire last year so had to go into the DoT to get a new one, had to do the eye test again etc. and I asked them if I needed a new photo and they told me I can if I wanted to but it's only required every 10 years. So I'm still rocking my pimple-faced teen photo as well :D

I find it quite unusual that they wouldn't have it as,an option to the general public.

They definitely have it at the major stadia in Sydney and I think Perth Arena has it and is mostly reliable, although it tends to go shonky at times at ANZ stadium for similar reasons as the MCG. Overall having wi-fi is a much better convenience than not having it.

The WACA is a showcase of insular WA but that can be discussed further in another thread.

I love your av, Azzlandia. I didn't read the fine print and initially thought that Barney had returned from a year at the Bombers ;)

Last time I was at the MCG the 3G/4G was completely unusable due to the number of people there. They don't have Wi-Fi either?
It depends which carrier you have for 4g at the MCG. I"ve managed full reception at the '13 GF and sold out cricket internationals. And they're in the process of installing wifi there.

WiFi is good news, I suppose, assuming it will actually be usable in a big crowd. I'm with Telstra, it was unusable. I imagine one of the smaller carriers with its own network might have been easier to use given less people using its network.

Who else has visited the Freo Chilli festival.

Sensational.

Bought more on showbags and chilli sauces than Packer spends on one pokie bet. The chilli cider is worth a try.

Just saw a fine young looking blonde fill out an entry form. Her birth year, was in the 50s and I was like WTF. Probably lying deliberately but if true an impressive looking 60 year old.
