I hope to discover electricity so I can make squillions.
Won't you be too busy familiarising yourself with the miracle of sunshine?

Might even introduce the ludicrous idea of Day Light Savings.

Not again poor Northcliffe

Bushfire WATCH AND ACT for the town of Northcliffe in the Shire of Manjimup
Tuesday 10 March 2015 - 2:30 PM
A bushfire WATCH AND ACT has been issued for people in an area bounded north of Zamia Road, west of Wheatley Coast Road, South of Yabarl Road and Datchet Road and east of Pemberton Northcliffe Road in Northcliffe in the Shire of Manjimup.

  • There is a possible threat to lives and homes as a fire is approaching the area and conditions are changing.
  • You need to leave or get ready to actively defend.

BUSHFIRE BEHAVIOUR:
  • The bushfire is moving in a north easterly direction at 150 metres per hour.
  • It is burning towards Pemberton-Northcliffe Road.
  • It is out of control and unpredictable.
WHAT TO DO:
  • If you are not prepared or you plan to leave, leave now if the way is clear.
  • If you are well prepared and plan to actively defend your home, make final preparations now.
  • Do not rely on mains water pressure as it may be affected. If you have access to a water tank and plan to defend your home, start patrolling with your hose and put out spot fires.
  • If you are not at home, do not try to return as conditions in the area could be very dangerous.
SAFER PLACE:
  • Your safest option may be to visit family or friends who live away from the area.
ALERT LEVEL:
A bushfire ADVICE has been issued people in an area bounded west of Pemberton-Northcliffe Road, south of Caesia Road, east of Tattenham Road and north of Richardson Road in Northcliffe in the Shire of Manjimup
Although there is no immediate danger for people in these areas you need to be aware and keep up to date.
WHAT TO DO:

  • Stay alert and monitor your surroundings.
  • Watch for signs of a bushfire, especially smoke and flames.
  • Read through your bushfire survival plan.
  • If you do not have a plan decide what you will do if the situation gets worse.
ROAD CLOSURES:
Avoid the area and be aware of fire and other emergency services personnel working on site
Road information may also be available from Main Roads WA by calling 138 138 or visiting
www.mainroads.wa.gov.au.
WHAT FIREFIGHTERS ARE DOING:

  • Approximately 16 firefighters are on the scene.
EXTRA INFORMATION:
  • The Shire of Manjimup is managing the fire.
KEEP UP TO DATE:
Visit
www.dfes.wa.gov.au, call 13 DFES (13 3337), follow DFES on Twitter @dfes_wa, listen to ABC local radio, or news bulletins.

Is it just me or are people in Perth obsessed with building houses and have to tell you about it at every opportunity? My facebook is littered with half built houses and get updated when another brick gets put down. Seriously who cares. Its a house.

Probably just people in your age group by the sounds of it. Had to go out to Alkimos the other day - should of just gone to Geraldton for afternoon tea with me mum - why would anyone live out there????

I know someone that done this recently. They built out in the middle of no where. Were going on about how good the house was and gave us the guided tour. A couple of weeks later they were whinging that there is nothing out there and made a mistake. Location people.

I've been getting it quite a bit the past 18 months or so.

Alkimos used to be a place you would 4WD through the sandhills to get to to go for a surf.

Same thing North of Geraldton at a place called Lucky Bay - most amazing place and only accessible by 4wd and you had to know how to get there because it wasn't on a map. The fishing was amazing and what did they do - put a sealed road between horrocks and Kalbarri and ruined it

Have been to Lucky Bay - was ****ing windy!! Must admit, I do like the new road through to Kalbarri.

All these northern suburbs....I remember when Yanchep and Two Rocks were miles away and seemed like distant lands...

They still are, but for some reason people living there convinced themselves that a one hour plus commute to the city isn't actually that far.

From jurien through to shark bay is always windy - if you haven't hit the beaches by 10 then forget it

1. Go to Mandurah
2. Catch crabs
3. ???
4. Profit

crabfest is actually on this weekend, but some might say every weekend is a crab fest in Mandurah

Could probably achieve steps 2-4 after a night out on the town, no need to travel to mandurah for it. Although I'll admit, you're probably increasing your odds.
