Yeah, we just need a bit of wind to shift it. I'm NW of there and it was hanging around here yesterday for most of the day but there's been a bit of a breeze and it's maybe staying out your way.

EDIT- winds have been 20kph to 40kph today. Yesterday they were under 20kph.

Do you think West Coast and Freo might be applying for COLA if things get tough, Azzlandia?

I understand that there are a fair few rentals available at the moment, so prices in that area shouldn't be too bad. I don't know if the market is on the way up or down in that area, though, because I don't pay much attention to it, seeing as I have my own place already.

COLA is just there because the Swans were a rabble in the early 1990s and the AFL feared they would go under if they didn't win a flag nor consistently make finals.

Agree with both of the above If COLA was the real deal, Freo and WCE would be given 5% and SA teams 4% extra or whatever.... according to the cost of living numbers published every year.

Then, when Sydney abused the gift of COLA and all the clubs pointed this out, the AFL had no option than to do something about it.. several years too late.

Were GWS given COLA as well?

The AFL are determined to try and grow their sport in rugby country.
So they've taken away COLA and have introduced the northern academies...

I thought they were burning too big an area at the one time- aren't they doing something like 4000 ha out past Roleystone?
And there's another 580 ha at Serpentine. 3800 at Reservoir (just out of Mundaring)

I've never seen such a huge amount of smoke from burnoffs, though they are often out in the hills and don't affect suburbs back this far. Looked pretty shitty again out Armadale way today- worse than yesterday, I think. Rendered Unsafe ? How was it out your way?

The lovely breeze helped, didn't it?
The sad thing was that I was walking around Piney Lakes in Winthrop this morning, thinking what an absolutely gorgeous day it was- the skies were blue, there was a bit of a breeze, it was warmish... and I took a photo of how lovely it looked out there.
It was only a few hours later that I looked out the back and saw the thick brownish smoke threatening from the south-east and I was hoping that the wind wasn't going to turn. (sorry- here's me hoping the people out there cop it all, so my washing doesn't get too smelly )
