What WA Day needs is to be called Foundation Day.
Don't understand why that is a problem to be honest, for reasons that are quite obvious.

You can also amount an understandable argument that the date should also should be changed, but it doesn't bother people enough to gain traction. And I really don't care all that much either.

There is nothing dubious about it. It is a commemoration of the founding of the Swan River Colony.

I like WA day - makes it a day for all and the opportunity is there for it to become an all inclusive event that can be built on to showcase what the state offers

How does it 'make it a day for all'?

Call it what you want, but the date still commemorates the establishment of the colony. For mine Foundation Day captures that pretty well.

Given European settlers introduced the Gregorian calendar it's impossible to pick a date that appeases everyone, but I still reckon having 'WA Day' to 'celebrate the whole state' and keeping the date the same is a bit half-arsed.

You are right that a name change doesn't change the significance of the date but it does go some way to recognising that for some it's not a day of celebration. Getting rid of it all together would be better
