Although it's as expensive as a trip to Bali, I love the Quarry + Dunes 18 at Lake Joondalup.

Also, for any semi-serious golfers out there who are interested in trying new courses / getting a handicap, I can't recommend PGN enough. $250 gets you a comp at a different course every day of the week, with discount rates compared to public rates, as well as a bunch of yearly goodies like a golf discount book and golf shirt.
A mate of mine use to work in the pro shop at Joondalup and he would get the lads on free most sat or sunday arvos. Mainly due to late cancellations and the best part was we got on for free.

Made it hard heading back to Hamersley or as I like to call it Royal Hamersley and paying $30 to play on that dump.

Bali Update: fly back tomorrow, yet to glass someone.
Im going in 2 weeks.

2 nights - Bounty Hotel Kuta (for the bogan culcha - youve got to get a bit of it while youre there
4 nights - Gili Trawangan (if you havent been - you have to!)
2 nights - Pullman Resort Legian (for the 5 star feel)

Plus I arrive at 11:00am and leave at 6:00pm so i practically get 8 nights and 9 full days.

Should be an amazing trip - booze, drugs and massages - oh an women too hopefully ;)

Heading there for the first time ever to celebrate a birthday milestone in a few months. Will be the usual sightseeing and cultural experience fair that I do whilst overseas with a bit of drinking etc. in the evening and a big day of partying on the day of my birthday.

Kill two birds with the one stone (fun and cheap way of celebrating birthday, and get to add another country on my list of travels).

Where are you going?

The bogan perception is severely overrated. Sure, there's a few bogans about but I've never been bothered by them. I tend to stay in Legian which is a bit quieter than Kuta but retains a similar style. I live coming here.

I've stayed at the Pullman before. Quite a Western style hotel and certainly more high end. Right on the border of Kuta and Legian.

I was born and grew up in the Perth. Brrrrr winters.

Then I flew off to college in the mid-west USA.

Showed my Perth winter coat to fellow student. Was told " you are going to die" and was taken shopping for real winter cloths.

When it was -30 and windchill -50, even those proper winter cloths needed other proper winter cloths over the top to approach not freezing to death.

Coming back to Oz realize that we do not dress properly for even the level of cold weather we have here.

In reality our winters pale in comparison to other parts of Australia. You only have to look the other capital cities such as Melbourne and Hobart where it is cold during winter and compare that to ours, we really do have it pretty good. Some days can be cold but really there aren't all that many.

So far in June Perth's average maximum has been 21.5. I'm sure the citizens in the other southern capital cities can only dream of having a winter which is that warm.

While we're on the subject of golf courses, what's everyone's favourite course in Perth? Still trying them all after moving up from the country a few years ago.
Wembley ( old course) , Collier Park, Maylands and Marangaroo are the public courses I play the most.
How many games of golf did it take you guys/girls to get any good at golf? Only played a handful of games and doesn't phase me if I'm shithouse because it's still good fun with the mates.

Am probably going to start playing it on a more regular basis to get some practice in. Any recommendations for a relatively easy course from Mandurah-Perth
I've been playing for over 20 years and I'm still an average hacker. I'm happy if I go around in 85 to 90 for 18 holes. I don't much about many of the courses SOR but Whaleback in Canningvale goes ok. Collier park is one of my favourites.

ANyone recommend a good Indian joint?
Preferably that does takeaway.
Agni in Innaloo. I don't know if they do takeaway but the food is bloody good.

Any family birthday dinner is normally there.

Yeah used to love playing Marangaroo when I lived NOR. Hill view's the only I've played SoR so far.
