Son had a school organised river cruise leaving from Barrack Street Jetty.

Dropping off was a bit of a head**** as it wasn't much past peak hour (6.30) but jesus wept - picking up. Getting in and out of that place when a bunch of parents are trying to pick up their kids was a serious cluster****

Should have just told him you would collect him from South Perth and get him to swim across :p

Try doing that for multiple kids every couple of years :(

And I still have to do it again in August.

Never got a river cruise :( but got a dinner in the local rec centre instead  #countrylyf
I know which one's easier to drop your kids off to!

I was asked by Child #2 if her friend could come with us as her parents were out ("too lazy to drop her off/pick her up", I think) - we were carpooling with another family.
So the girls come home from school, shower and change, then spend an hour PLUS in the bathroom curling their hair/each other's hair. I was about to bang their heads together but we did get away on time.....just! We arrived at their friend's place to find that she had spent the best part of an hour STRAIGHTENING her hair :D
Sigh. Kids! Just never happy with what God's given them, are they?

Speaking of BC- what's the point of downgrading his charges and letting him off again?
Downgrade charge -> no mandatory jail sentence -> plea of guilty -> fine

Don't downgrade charge -> mandatory jail sentence -> plea of not guilty -> trial -> time and $ -> argument that "chase" was so slow that there was no danger to anybody -> judge is WCE fan -> convicted of lesser charge only -> fine

Yeah. Probably. So many blind adoring supporters that his trials will never be fair.
And I guess he's fragile, too? Or is that just an act put on to avoid being locked up with all his crim mates?

in all seriousness, as much as I'd like to see it, spending time in jail would be one of the worst things that could happen to him.

Students took freakin limos to the year 10 river cruise in my day.

Good thing though that parents are doing the lifts this time round.
It is getting worse and I'm sure that's probably still happening with some little princes and princesses.
When my daughter had her year 7 "social", there were parents buying dresses costing hundreds and hundreds of dollars months in advance. The kids knew there was going to be a theme - and parents were told at the beginning of the year but, when details were finalised, these parents kicked up such a stink cos their previous dress would go to waste, that the whole themed idea had to be changed for a select few pop tarts' mums! Lol

Most of the kids' parents were pretty sensible and got dresses from teenage kids' clothes shops for under $50.

Never change, Ballajura :hearts:

Interestingly, I drove through there last night dropping a mate off at home and never noticed anything resembling civil disorder.

I agree with some of the comments on fb - I'm a golden oldie but I still recall cops rocking up to parties we had and shutting them down. Admittedly we had more respect for police back then (because they were allowed to smack the shit out of us) but we partied and we partied hard - the difference I believe was no social media to notify the media but more importantly for half the town to turn up uninvited and cause trouble.

It's a bit like schoolies - 1% **** it up for everyone and yet they are the only ones we hear about

Thoughts on the new train station for events only at the new stadium? Apparently will have trains running every 2-3 minutes after a game to get the majority of people out asap

Would be great if it actually happened. We all know that irl what we'll get is 3 carriage trains 10 minutes apart though.
Won't get built at all once the "oh it's only going to be used once a week we could build 17 hospitals for that much" brigade get onto it.
