I remembered one the guys at the tech I went to reckoned one day they do a fit out on a new house I think and someone take crap up in the roof space. Seriously just wtf..
That is just disgusting.

A lot of builders and tradesmen are pigs and throw their rubbish all over the place when they work on new houses. I'd hate to see their houses as well. How hard is it for them to put their wrappers and containers in their bag when they finish eating and drinking?

Agree completely on the rubbish part. Doing a bricklaying apprenticeship at the moment just with me labouring/trowel hand and the boss who has 20+ years of experience.

First thing he said is we will always keep the site clean, take respect in our work ect ect. We never leave the site at the end of the day unless the rubbish is cleaned up, sand pile is neat and no waste.

Sick of tradies being lazy campaigners that give us bad names because they can't be bothered putting in an extra 20 minutes a day to tidy up especially considering most only work 7-3. Personally work 6:30-whenever it's dark (6-7) and 6-7 days a week so it's never an excuse to say they don't have enough time.

That is great and it's a really good boss that you have- he's teaching workers to take responsibility for everything, not just their work and the finished product. I understand that the site gets cleaned up afterward but who does it and who are the ones leaving the rubbish? If it was one and the same- well, fair enough but I would bet that it isn't. (And the rubbish would blow 5 kms all over the neighbourhood by the time the cleanup crew arrive!)

I've had some great tradies come here to my house and they've done a cleanup that their mothers would be proud to see. I don't know why a building site should be different.

We get a skip bin and fill that as much as possible then we will dump the rest of the rubbish in a neat pile. A lot of brickies will have a stupid amount of rubbish and don't cover cement bags and straps so they fly down the road and cause trouble for everyone else. We get a full site clean when we're done just by a bobcat and get bin emptied. Then the site just gets cleaned as its gets messy and bins get full again.

Working for Dales and Summit, think Dales do 3 full site cleans each job where they make it 100% tidy while doing bits and pieces after different trades throughout the build. The rubbish is 100% on the tradie but very often people come and dump their own goods in the bins and around the site which doesn't help.

So apparently Elizabeth Quay is nearly finished. Saw it on the news tonight...looks shit.

Is there any water in it yet? Will take a couple of years to fill out the place with businesses/restaurants etc.

Would be quite nervy as an investor starting a business there - will they come and if they do will they stay

Perth people are quite perculiar like that IMO

whats part two?

been lurking in this tread for a while, lived in perth for many a year prior to moving to the GC

Don't know but I'm with others - there is no way this would be finished yet - I would think it's just the clearing of the area and the set up of the new road system and maybe some dredging of the river that has occurred to date and now construction would need to start. In saying that I haven't been down that way since January

i always thought the govt was spending about $400m (and selling land worth about half that) - its been a construction site for about , what, a year or 2 now, which would be about $400m worth of 'time'. maybe some dribs and drabs over the next 6 months tidying a few things up. but last photos i saw seem to show its pretty much done as far as govt spending goes. now over to the private sector to build the towers etc

That whole block is death by car already anyway. O'Connor Bunnings ftw.. as much as you can call any Bunnings a win.

Cr Stock/South St? Used to be a BBC Hardware. It's always quieter there and the carpark is less shit.

The little area around Marshall Rd is a nightmare already, hundreds of fatties getting drive through doughnuts is going to turn it to gridlock.

Yeah more or less. Forgot about BBC. That place has been a Bunnings for as long as I can remember. I think the BBC might have been nearby..? But yeah it's much quieter. Supercheap auto just up the road too which has been handy since the old one burned down.

So I did a mini pub crawl tonight

The game
Sneaky Tonys
Bird

Sneaky Tonys was kinda cool

Real mini pub crawl - it's only 11.45 and your home posting
Age catching you Keyser

Pretty sure BBC Hardware were the ones with three giant coloured balls on sticks on the roof of each store, which from memory O'Connor has.

I rarely go to SCA but popped down one day to pick up something without even realising it had burned down. They've built a new one next door now, but it's SCA so it still sells shit.
