Even better is the lights on Beelair Dr and Hammond Rd where they have reallinged it, you can get across there now!
That has caused a 10000000% increase in the traffic going up Hammond Rd Nth, now- and I can't get out of the Stock food place to turn left and go to Tony Ale's any more. :( I was there on Thurs at 4pm and waited about 5 minutes before just zipping out and gunning it. It's a major thoroughfare now, for people trying to avoid the Nth Lake Rd- Beeliar intersection.

Its a goodsend for travelling through on Hammond Road but, was kind of slightly blind coming out heading south then you had to gun into into the right hand lane to head straight into the turn lane for the southern part.

Mmmm tony ales, now I want pie.

Yeah- it's a weird sort of an intersection. I mostly come out from Tony's and turn towards Gateways but there's the road has a bit of a rise and I lose sight of the left turning lane, which doesn't pass through the lights. I forget and head towards the lights, then suddenly notice the slip lane heading left. haven't cut off anyone yet but I'm sure it's only a matter of time. :)

Have you been to Dolce and Salato which is within the Ales complex? Mmmmm.... Cake!!!

Little traffic rant here,

A career opportunity arose so I had to take it. The thing is this, I live in kelmscott and the job is in malaga. The morning it takes me about 25-30 minutes. Barely any traffic, on the road at 6am. The way home though....holy shit. I have averaged it out that it takes a good 3-5 seconds compounded per car to start moving at a green light. It only happens for a few sets of lights but it is bloody fustrating at times. Does anyone know if the Tonkin is getting more upgrades or is it just the around the airport.

I would argue that there is to many lights on the tonkin and why doesnt everyone start moving when the green goes. In theory it should work

Partly because of reaction time, partly because of people not paying attention and partly because you can't trust the drivers in front not to have to brake suddenly because they tried to get from 0-100 in 4 seconds, then had to break for the merge point.

Also, if everyone takes off at the same time then the people following need to take off at a lower rate of acceleration otherwise everyone's doing 100km/hr 2m apart.

Yes there are interchanges being built at Morley and Collier, and the Benara will have an overpass with no ramps.
Tonkin/Reid will be bulldozed and rebuilt as a full interchange.
Reid/Malaga interchange is starting soon - maybe has started?

Reid/Malaga is absolutely horrific right now.

Why couldn't they build these overpasses when they built the bloody road 30 years ago?

30 years ago that intersection was probably used by about 10 cars a day.

Hell, when I went to uni Tonkin Hwy finished before Albany Hwy. Perth has changed a lot.

Because nobody looks any further than today - it's why we have continual roadworks on our freeways and why we are having a sporting stadium built for 60,000 people.

Foresight, mahn, foresight.

They knew the northern suburbs' population would explode in the not too distant future, yet here we are 30 years later and still playing catch-up.
