Haven't stopped there for yonks.Used to be an Emu Pie local produce fruit barn.Didn't like the pies and could get the fruit elsewhere so no.
In the last half year or so it's been tizzed up.Fruit is quality so flick the indicator and check it out.Haven't bothered to see if the pies have got real.
My old man said that the owners of that place were in a bit of a scandal a while back, but I can't quite remember the specifics.

Been rejigged last 6 months or so;could easy coincide with what your ol' boy's saying.
I simply stopped once about 10 yrs ago bought an emu dogs eye and dead horse and thought it was a joke.
Culinary charlatans.
So never again 'til about 5 mths ago and the fruit and veg was good.
Didn't even consider a dogs eye.

I seem to remember them having to stop the emu pies for some reason. The story ran in the local paper, but I can't remember the reason, just that it was the talk of town for a bit. ^_^

What campus? I'm at Mt Lawley.
Yeah the Mt Lawley campus.

I can see where this is going...

I think I'm the only person to not give a shit about the Beeliar wetlands
Probably not, there is already high voltage power lines, and hope rd running right through the middle. And judging by the amount of signage the rethink campaign has up in the area, they cut down a small forest or two and/or chewed up an oil field to print it all.

Yeah carrying on about such a trivial environmental issue.

The developers would have taken it into account that stuff given the environmental consulting they have been provided for the project.

After the campaigning back to their 5 bedroom Dale Alcock home in their landcruisers.

I don't really give a shit either.

When I was a kid Canning Vale was all swamp, sorry, wetlands and we filled that in just to build more shit housing estates. Here we're talking about a major project that might actually benefit the state.

For the people in the 'Save the wetlands!' brigade, what is the alternative?

I did a bit of reading on the Indian Ocean Gateway (http://www.indianoceangateway.com.au/files/iog_proposal_new.pdf) which all looks great (and conveniently for the City of Kwinana sends all of Fremantle's cargo their way) but it keeps trucks on the Freeway.

The whole idea of an East-West link is to stop trucks from having to go Leach/Freeway/Roe or vice-versa. I support greater use of rail but there needs to be an East-West rail link whether it's Roe Hwy or not and whether it's from Kwinana or Freo Port.

So what's the long term impact of continually filling in the wetlands. At what point do we start caring?
Long term impact is a loss in biodiversity. If you don't give a shit about the native flora and fauna the impact is probably minimal. Where I live I stand to benefit greatly from the redirecting of heavy traffic but I'm not so sure I give that much of a shit about it if it means destroying an irreplaceable wetland.

Is it going to destroy an irreplaceable wetland?

The against

There's a fair bit of spin on the against side of the campaign.

From what I understand they aren't destroying it but building over it. It should stay relatively intact
Yeah that's certainly the impression they give with their visually attractive little cartoony diagrams. I mean there'll still be pollution in terms of exhaust particulates and rubbish that campaigners throw out of their vehicles but I guess the tortoises and such will just have to htfu a bit.

Well i'm lead to believe that turtles/tortoises can be trained to be ninja's, so they are definitely survivors.

Meanwhile, down in Beeliar...

Well, in Canning Vale they engineered a stategy to drain the water into man made lakes, which is a pretty good environmental initiative.

Most people care, you just wouldn't know from the real zealoted NIMBYs/Greenies, who stick to their opinions like religious views.

Man made lakes bring their own problems. They are not the solution when deciding to get rid of natural waterways. So many of these wetlands form part of our groundwater supply
