Annoyingly, this isn't true

Haha. Yes I do. Quite well! We lived in Bateman at the time and my kids were quite young. 15 or so years ago, maybe?

Truck dropped a load of cows on Leach Hwy- could not catch the last rebel cow for quite a few weeks. Helicopters, police cars, the works- she was being hunted like a common criminal.
By day she hunkered down in the wilderness that was Piney Lakes, by night she snuck out into the gardens of nearby residents and helped herself to some tasty morsels.

I have a feeling that they didn't end up turning her into steaks- she became quite famous in the local area, didn't she? :D

Was more than a few weeks, was more like a few months at least haha.
Just loved the idea that a rogue cow could manage to survive in the semi-bush land of Piney Lakes as it did.

oops- couldn't remember how long it was. I'm glad there was water there for her to drink. We used to talk about it all the time but I've done a lot of things since then and have compressed a lot of memories- obviously those cow memories as well ;)

Every time there was a sighting, the cops and helicopters would be out again! :)

I remember they had the thermal vision shot from the chopper at night as you saw her running through the bush, was classic :D

I can't believe how badly I misread that post.

I'd love to see a bandicoot. Had a full size echidna walk across the patio in front of us up at Moore River a while back. I couldn't believe my eyes.
That would've been amazing!!
I had a turtle pass in front of my car once in South Lakes- stopped and moved it off the road- and, last month, my daughter and I saw a turtle walking back towards the 'waterfall' at Piney Lakes. I just love seeing unusual things like that :)

Here are a couple of pics of the other little lizards that we have at our place- they sell at pet shops for a few hundred dollars, apparently.

Nice Teriyakicat! That cat looks very interested in getting better acquainted.

I've also seen long neck turtles at Piney Lakes. One time I came across one making a journey from the scrub at the northern end up to the waterfall/pond area across the grass. I ended up moving it up there myself as I was really nervous about the number of dogs around (including my own).

Not sure if they are the same- just had a quick look but dtellas seem to have scales but the ones I am talking about had a smooth transparent skin. There are probably variations, though- I need to read up a bit more.
Yeah there are a number of different species.

My dog luckily didn't see the turtle that day but a lady was just getting out of her car and had let her two dogs run free so I pointed out the turtle and she put the dogs on their leashes so it could pass without incident.
Sounds like you and I do the same thing with the wildlife :)

Depends how you measure success.

On my facebook/instagram feed there is a strong correlation between posting motivational/inspirational quotes etc. and being an insecure attention whore.

If you post an inspirational quote with a photo of yourself in a bikini you can pretend that's why people are liking your photo.

Another transperthetic bus roasted itself this morning. R.I.P. in peace 344. You were a shit campaigner for never turning up on time and often making me late to school.

It's becoming a bit of a thing now. How many is that? 3?
Yep. The one at the Esplanade busport, then at Whitfords station two days later, and now this one.

Most of us need a rocket up our bum first thing in the morning so maybe Transfat is helping out by giving us the next best thing.

Also, kudos to all for keeping the Harry Butler thread alive.

Some great stories and pictures.

Just wanted to say goodbye to all you wonderful Perth people. My time here on BF has sadly come to an end.
Thank you all for the fun I've had here in this thread- I was a bit apprehensive posting anywhere other than on the Geelong board but Shell pointed me in this direction and it's been loads of fun!!

Take care- Merry Christmas to you all and stay safe on the roads. :)

That escalated quickly.

The police officer that gunned down that harmless looking dog in the street a few weeks ago has tested positive for meth and they've found drugs on his property.

Gotta love the WA police, they're more dangerous than the criminals they're supposed to be protecting us from.
