Yeah well Despotovski was a bit of a joke but who would you have ahead of him as WA soccer legends, Stan Lazaridis? Bernd Stange?

When I think of Perth Glory legends Despotovski is the first name that comes to mind, he was a legend in the old 90s Glory Shed days.

Not really worthy of a statue though tbh.

Would Danny Green be worthy of a statue? Ric Charlesworth?

I don't have an issue with the Quay but I can see why people living in country WA would be annoyed with the amount of money being spent in Perth in a so called cash strapped environment when there are a lot more important issues for rural WA

Being from the country myself I'm happy Perth is finally getting some cash spent on itself.

Sure there are issues in rural WA. But people from the country learn to live with them. There are roads around my place that are pretty shit. Do I bitch and moan? No. I use another route that adds next to no time to my travels. People in the country like to ham up how rough they have it, when in reality it's nowhere near as bad as it could be.

The Quay and the new stadium are needed to bring tourists over here. I mean look at all the touring artists and sports we've lost in recent years. People bitch about having to travel to Adelaide to see a band perform but when the government offers the means for them to come here it's seen as a "waste".

We've just had what, two new hospitals open up? And with the blowout of suburbs up north I'm sure there will be an abundance of schools up there in a few years.

What's so wrong with having something nice?

People just never realise there is a budget and it is divided up to cover everything. Its not like they are using all the money on EQ and leaving nothing for everything else. In the case of health and education they have billions set aside for them every year. The health budget has almost doubled in the last 6-7 years and people still whinge that more money needs to go into it. Good on the government for finally putting some money into bringing the city into the 21st century its long overdue.

I went to the Quay last night. Thought it was great. Felt a lot like Singapore to me. There isnt much there right now obviously, but its just a nice piece of area, when a few restaurants/bars and the apartments open up it will be a great place to go or live. The bridge is wonderful aswell

I don't know why but people in WA have this impression that we need to copy the eastern states in things like education and health, whereas when you look into it WA's education system is one if not the best in the country.

There's a few lesser known brands for 1000 odd but dunno if it's worth getting a second hand known brand for around that price? Not charging 6ft waves either just cruising around doing **** all.

I don't know much about them, but if you want to give it a go, there's a bloke that hires them at the bay in Claremont. Might be a good way to work out what you're looking for.

I think there are a few places that let you hire them out. North Freo does them for $35 for the day and they seem to refund your hire money if you end up purchasing which seems ok.
