What would really work best would be either a full on reserves comp (league wide) or let them have standalone clubs.

Standalone clubs makes the most sense. There's probably no perfect solution as then the standalone would rest/manage players to suit their club's situation. But that happens now anyway.

I think you are selling Ellenbrook short, as far as sterile, lifeless, hard to get to, out of the way suburbias go.....I think it's ok, up there with Butler, but further from the coast and with worse transport links. Ticks lots of boxes.

If I want to go to the eastern suburbs, I have to take a freeway, then drive through one & two lane roads to get through the city, and then onto another freeway.

I think they were worried about all the extra earth works and piling on the reclaimed swampy old rubbish dump ground.

That East Perth spot I would have though would have been more costly again being very tightly bound in by Farmer FWY and East Parade. Looking at the footprint on google maps now it doesn't look like the current size of stadium would have fit there with out major realignment.
