yes, this is fking awesome. yes, i will absolutely be going to one of the shows, most likely sydney.

but i could definitely be more pumped about it. i do love doolittle - but i guess as a concept, i'm not a massive fan of album tours like this.

sure, if my favourite song for a band is an obscure one, i know going in that i'm probably not going to see my favourite song.

but going to see Pixies and knowing that i'm not seeing where is my mind, holiday song or into the white? i think it leaves me a little underwhelmed by the announcement.

V has grown to be a massively pish festival over the years... but i kind of hope they do play V, not as part of the Doolittle tour... then i'd probably go to a solo show as well as the festival

They'll prob play Where is my Mind?. Into the White is a Doolittle B-side as well IIRC.

Black Francis, Kim Deal, Joey Santiago and David Lovering will perform all of the songs from the album as well as related B-sides.

awesome! did anyone get the chance to see them when they were out last?
I was there on the gold coast!

In actual fact it was all a bit surreal considering I had long given up hope of ever seeing them live. I just stared into Kims eyes and she stared back into mine and sang with the most beautiful voice in music.

This is great news.

I live in Hobart and am currently poor as a church mouse. Not a good combination.

Festival Hall, March 20 would be a go-er. Money gods, show me your grace!

Excellent news, a bit disappointing that it's only Doolittle (although it is still a brilliant album), was hoping for some Bossanova too.

Still, Tame, Debaser, I Bleed, Monkey Gone to Heaven, Hey etc will be sweet as :thumbsu:

Great band, they were the darlings of the alternative scene in the late eighties. Never achieved mainstream success, which is a pity, and then grunge came along. Still, I'm sure The Scientists/Kim Salmon would have loved the success and recognition the Pixies did achieve, rather than being a footnote in grunge history.

I saw Frank Black years ago, good show too. He was signing autographs on the footpath outside the venue after the show, and out of the huddle bounced a gothette squealing "I touched him, I touched him". I couldn't help but marvel at the affect rock stardom has on people. If any fat, bald, middle aged guy had touched her in the street, I'm sure she'd still squeal, but......

I saw them at The Northcote Social Club and then at The V festival when they played in Melbourne last time. Don't miss them they are fantastic live. Even if the gig is at "festering hall":p

Belvoir is great, and I can hardly believe Perth scored a Saturday night show, should be a big night!
Good point. Don't think I have ever been to Belvoir on a Saturday night. I always seem to recall the long drive back to Fremantle and work the next day!

Best band of all time, or damn well close to it.

Hard to argue with tunes like this.

I'm bumping this because I think I love Gouge Away too much. There's something about it that makes it unreal. I can't stop listening to it. I'm dying to get Doolittle, but it was $20 at JB's which is ridiculous for a CD that's 20 years old.

Don't think they're underrated anymore. I think they've had their fair share of retrospective 'hey yeah I like them always have' attention in recent years *coughjoydivisioncough*.

But yes awesome band. Great times watching the Velouria and Monkey Gone To Heaven vids on rage.

Great times, however, bookended by the disgusting Prince, the darling of all rage programmers it would seem. But that's another story for another day.
hahahahahaha I've only gotten into JD and the pixies in the last few years. Having said that, I always liked (discovered in joy divisions case) both bands in the 90s but it was more a case of loving a few ad hoc songs.

Do you have Dirt Cheap CD's, the store, where you're from?

You should be able to pick it up there for $10.

Alternatively you could download it on the illegal.

Speaking of which, I went to their second show in Perth and was planning to record it illegally but I heard that they sold CDs of the show afterwards and picked one of them up. Awesome :thumbsu:

Have three less beers at the pub/footy over the weekend and buy the cd... will be the best $20 you have ever spent!

I've just got Death to the Pixies which is their best of compilation. Also comes with a bonus live CD as well. Not sure how much it cost, probably 30 bucks or so but money well spent. Has most of their best stuff on it and the live tracks are great too, they put a different spin on a lot of their live versions.

I've always preferred the slowed down live version of Wave of Mutilation to the faster studio recorded version.

It wasn't until I bought that double CD album back in the late 90s that I fully realised what an awesome band the Pixies are. I wish I'd discovered them when they were at their peak back in the late 80s/early 90s. Better late than never I guess.
