Those are horrible... Have been since the club first wore them in the AFL, if memory serves Tredrea did his knee vs Carlton at Princes Park wearing those hideous things... They should never be worn again by the club...

Would you believe the only still I could find of one of our players wearing teal socks, was the fat Stuey Dew one. Couldn't even find a pic of 1998 Tredrea v Carlton (although there's a fine video)..

I found a couple more:

Burgoyne, Tredrea on the left from 99'. Burgoyne, Lyle on the right from 2000.

From memory, we've worn teal socks 7 times.
vs Carlton in 1998 (Princes Park)
vs St Kilda in 1999 (Waverly Oval)
vs Collingwood in 1999 (MCG)
vs Carlton in 2000 (Princes Park)
vs St Kilda in 2001 (Docklands)
vs Carlton in 2001 (Princes Park)
vs Collingwood in 2002 (Football Park)

If they brought it back, I'm thinking it would be for the younger demographic. The club named their junior membership package Planet Teal (Choco years ago said it was one of the best sold kids memberships in the league), I'm guessing theres some marketability in that color. But to me its a 90s relic, and not as bad as some of our guernsey abominations from the 2000s.
