I agree and that was my point, it was Dylan who didn't like my use of another word.
Language has evolved, it's created a number of words for various sleeveless items.
Waistcoat
Tank top
Guernsey
Gillet
Etc.
Why use the same word for all these different items?
Call it a vest if you like, I don't care. I call it a body warmer.
